You can plot y=2^x but in the 'window' make the x-min -3 and the x-max 6 (i added one to each in order for you to see the whole graph and be able to calculate whatever you need to.

So on my graphing calculator i put my equation x^3-x^2-10x-8. then i hit graph and it says err:invalid DIM.

INVALID DIM error message may occur if you are trying to graph a function that does not involve the stat plot features. The error can be corrected by turning off the stat plots. To turn the stat plots off, press 2nd then stat plot, and then select 4:PlotsOff. By the way it is easy to graphing function y=x^3-x^2-10x-8.

Whenever I try to plot anything on the graph it says: ERR: INVALID DIM I need to graph problems such as x+1 over 2 or 1+5/x over 25/x squared.

You're trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features, while the calculator is expecting them. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

I was plotting graphs of quadratic functions and all of a sudden i had error message: INVALID DIM. What do I do?

If you were graphing equations in the y= screen, chances are that you have Plot 1 or one of the other plots on. You can tell if this is the case if you have a black box over plot 1, plot 2 or plot 3 in the y= screen. To turn of the plot with the black box over it, arrow up and over if needed to highlight this black box. Press enter and you will turn the plots off and should be able to graph.

Another solution is is press the 2nd key, then the + key, then the 7 key, then the 1 key & the 2 key. This clears the RAM and resets the calculator to the original factory defaults.

Remember.....2nd....+....7.....1....2

Hope this helps/

How do i fix my calculators graphing? I would try to graph something, but then it always goes to invalid dim... what do i do if for instance I want to put in y=1/2x^2 ? and I want to see the table of...

You're probably trying to graph a function that does not involve stat plot features while the calculator is trying to do the stat plot. You can correct this by turning off the stat plot features. Press "2ND" "STAT PLOT" and then select 4:PlotsOff.

In my Y= menu, any equation that I enter isn't graphed on my graph. At the top, by Plot 1 Plot 2 Plot 3, it says "X=" before them. Also when i do enter an equation, it says Error: invalid dimensions.

You must deactivate the Statistical plots.
Press [STAT].
In list that is displayed delect [4:PlotsOff] and press [ENTER]
Go to [Y=] editor to enter functions or press [GRAPH] if functions already entered.

Cannot graph invalid dim error

This error show up when you are graphing out of the plot menu. If you are not graphing data points from list menu, you need to turn the plots off. In the y= screen, you will see the words plot 1, plot 2, etc across the top of the screen. If one of the plots is highlighted (black box over the words), you need to turn it off. This can be done by arrowing up and highlighting the box and pressing enter. When you arrow back down, the plot should be off and you will be able to enter an equation in the y= lines and graph.

If you are graphing from the plot menu, this error lets you know that one of the lists you are graphing is longer than the other.

Another way to fix the problem is to reset the calculator by pressing 2nd button then plus sign then 7 then 1 then 2. This will reset the calculator however if you are graphing from lists, your data will be erased. Hope this helps.

When i grath, there is message " invalid dim"

I think you are saying that when you graph, you get the message "invalid dim"

If you are trying to graph from the y= screen it may me that you have one of the plots on. If this is the case, look at the top of the y= screen. If plot 1, plot 2 or plot 3 has darkened box around it, the plot is on and you need to turn it off. Move your cursor on top of the one that is highlighted and press enter. You should now have the plot turned off and should be able to graph from the y= screen.

Another way to do this is to press 2nd key, plus key and then 7, and then 1 and then 2. This will reset your ram.

Hope this helps

When i try to graph a scatter plot on my ti-83 plus it says ERR:INVALID DIM or it gives me a blank graph, how do i graph it?

Your stat plots are on, and may not be filled out/ correctly filled out.
go to [Y=] and go up to the stat plots ([Plot 1], [Plot 2], [Plot 3] ) and turn off the ones that are "ON" ( highlighed black w/ white text.) and press [ENTER] on the ones that are on and the problem is no more.
