My Bissell Cleanview Bagless vacuum makes loud grinding noise.

I replaced the belt and still made the noise. Took the roller bar off and it doesnt make the noise and it still has good suction. I know it has something to do with the roller bar but dont understand why.

The ends of the roller have something wrapped around them.see if you can pull the ends off so you clean the caps and bearings

My roller bar was completely clean. You cannot take off the ends or bearings. These just wear out. You need a new one and it will get rid of the noise.

I have a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser and last week I smelled a burning rubber smell then the loud noise started. It was the roller bar. I talked to a man at our local vacuum parts store and he said those rollers are not going to last. The bearings go. The old one doesn't look like it's beat up or anything, but once you compare it to a new one, you will see a difference in the ends. I took my old belt and he said it was stretched out, also, so I bought a new one of those also. I just installed both and the noise is gone!

Bissell vacuum roller will not spin

HI,
Most of the time if the roller will not turn it is because the belt is either strecthed too far and is loose or it is completely broken...
Check and replace the belt before doing anything else.

Vacuum sounds like an airplane after 1 year of use.

the motor bearings are starting to fail most likely. You can diagnose the source of the noise by removing the brushroll and belt, could possibly be the brushroll bearings but if you still get the noise when the belt is off its the motor.

It makes a very loud noise and doesnt pick up much

When they make noise like that there is usually an issue with the drive system (the belt and roller brush). I would try cleaning off the roller brush and putting a new belt on. You can access the roller brush and belt by turning the vacuum over so the brush faces up. There is a cover plate over the roller brush which can be removed by removing the (4) phillips screws. with the cover plate off, you can remove the brush and old belt. clean the brush off really good and put it back with a new belt. This is normal maintenence for this model and should be done every 6 months.
You can get the replacement belt here:

Makes too much noise {high pitchs] like the motoris spinning the belt to fast.

That noise usually means that the belt is worn or stretched and its slipping on the motor shaft. Replacing the belt is easy to do and you can get the belts for this model here:

Bissell roller question

You need to replace the brush roll, part # 2032013, I would also put a new belt on as well, 2031093, style 7 belt.
Most vacuum repair shops should have these or can get them for you.

Loud noise??

I have the exact same problem. I've taken the thing apart and cannot figure out what is causing the noise. It's not the belt and it doesn't seem to be coming from the engine. It sounds like the spinning brush is hitting something, but it's not, that I can see.

Bissell 8990 CleanView Bagless Upright - Loud noise

Sounds like maybe your motor went bad, part # 2031052. Would sell for about $60. When the bearings go bad, they can be real loud as well if the fan on the motor when it gets damaged.

I have changed the belt, but....

Most likely needs a roller assembly. The roller assembly (older machines called this the beater bar) is made of plastic and doesn 't hold up well. It will freeze up and then the belt will start to burn. On mine, the belt continually comes off. Replacing the belt is only a temporary solution. Very poorly designed unit.
