My speakers have no sound.

I'm a novice so I don't even know where to check. I have a VOIP headset and it works fine but when I plug my speakers in I get no sound. However when I go to the Realtek sound check sound comes through just fine, so I know my speakers work. I'm trying to get sound from DVD's.

If the headset is plugged in the front jack, it will disable the speaker output.

If the headset is unplugged, so the speakers work?

    What model speakers?

We plugged a headset into the speaker and when we removed the headset we could not get sound with just the speaker, but when the headset was plugged in again there was sound on them???

Plug in and out a headphones connector at the female jack many times and it will come to normal after a while. It's a common problem for jacks that are barely used.

My desktop speakers not working but cable all plugged in and audio device working.

Hi tamjidzaee ,

Please follow the below steps to solve the problem that you have mentioned :-

  1. Check if the sound driver has been installed in your system, you can check this by going in the control panel's sound and audio devices option , if you find all options disabled and it reads no playback devices and no recording devices, then you have no sound driver installed. Therefore in this case you would require to install your sound driver using your motherboard cd.
  2. If you see your sound driver is installed in the audio options of the control panel and you also see the sound driver's name , then you need to check the volume in the volume settings to check if it has not been muted accidentally , if it has been muted , then please un mute it and things should work fine.
  3. A good idea would be use a headset and plug it into your motherboard in the slot where the speakers output is received , mostly the green round slot.
  4. If you have a front head phone option then you can try using it as well, if the headphone or headset works fine, then we are sure about two , things that the driver is installed successfully and there is a sound output from the audio output slots.
  5. Now, when you have checked the sound via headsets then you need to make sure that you are connecting your speakers in the green slot or the same slot which is working for headsets, remember headsets can be used to check the output in the back panel of your cabinet as well as front panel of your cabinet.
  6. Also check if there is any fuse in your speaker which has blown up so that you can replace it and it would start working, check the power cables and confirm they are not properly connected.
If the speakers work fine , then it's all ok , but if they don't you need to replace the speakers by checking them with your friend's pc or any other audio output device.
Hope his helps.

No sound from the speakers with my dell laptop inspiron 700m I trouble checked everything.I have the sound when I plug my headset. Is it a sound card or a driver problem? Can I download another driver?...

Fred if you get sound to your headset from the same port you get no sound for your speakers, it is the speakers and not your headset. Are there any speaker lights on at all? If not maybe your power supply for the speakers is bad.Try a different set of speakers in the same computer and see what happens. If they work, the speakers are bad. Otherwise you have some strange connection problem.

Logitech headset, new vista operating system

either the headset is not supported by Vista, or you need to right click on both speaker icons, normally coloured red and black and in the properties you need to see if your headset is listed as one of the microphone input devices, if you need to make the Logitech headset the default mic and not the windows generic mic. If you do not see it in the properties then it may not be recognised by Vista.

No more sound from speaker

I had a similar issue on mine. The easy fix was to insert a headset jack and pull it out quickly. I think something got stuck that turns off the speaker after I put the headset in the jack once. If this is the problem, I think you should also see a headset icon when making calls, even though no headset is attached.
