Can not restore to any restore date - Acer Aspire 9300-5349 Notebook

have you create a restore point on that day before? you can't run system restore on the date haven't created.

The restore points in windows are generated automatically, in order to restore your computer to a previous date a valid restore point would need to already exist. You cannot manually assign a restore date.

TO Restore back to previous Date you can do the following steps.
START-Programmes--Accessories--System tools--System Restore.
Here in System restore select the highlighted date to restore your computer to back date.

The system restore will only work if it has a restore point available ..These restore points are the ones that are highlighted on the calendar when the restore service is accessed..If you only have the current month displayed..you can roll back the calendar ..and choose a date which is highlighted..but if you do not have a functional restore point you will not be able to do it ..If the system was recently installed it also will not have a restore point available older than the date it was installed...or the date the system restore was enabled..My advice is to choose a date available ..and restore it anyway if it makes problems ..it is not necessary to restore it to a date so far back ..but to a date when you know it worked well..
If the system was affected by a virus...you have to know that the system restore may brink it back if it has a restore point not affected by the virus..but the problem will still be in the computer and will came back ...so the action is to reinstall it completely or use the recovery disk or partition .

SYSTEM RESTORE Windows XP: If you are using windows Xp

Switch On your PC/ Laptop and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

System Restoring Windows 7:If you are using windows 7

1. Open the Start Menu.

A) Click on All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and System Restore.

2. Open the Control Panel (All Items View).

A) Click on the Recovery icon.
B) Click on the Open System Restore button.

A 'System Restore' window will appear. Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time'

A) Click on the Next button

Now you will find a window with Dates, Description and Type,

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start. Click on the Finish button and windows will take a reboot.

If you are using Windows XP

Just a thought- go to My computer>click on view system information>system information box, click on system restore, and make sure box is unchecked.
If you have any anti-virus programs like Norton, Macafee or AVG, disable them if you can, as well as any non-Windows firewall programs.
If you can remember recently downloading any other program that might interfere with system restore- anti virus or otherwise- then delete or disable that too.

Only the dates listed in bold have a system restore on them. Try one of those.

Go to the start button for Windows Vista.

Open up Control Panel. Click on Back Up and Restore Your Computer.

Click on Restore Files.

It will give you a set date to restore your system to. This will uninstall any programs that you installed after that date. You can change the date if you want, but it generally gives you a date that was just before the last program you installed.

If your Messenger was installed before that date, then choose an earlier date.

Start the Restore and DON'T touch your computer until it is finished.
