Have a DS6222-4 - bought 2 handsets to replace 2 that have the names of the buttons worn off. Charged the new handsets overnight - screen says "Connecting..." even though they are right next to the base. The screen won't change to " NOT REGISTERED" so I can register them to the base. The model number printed in the battery compartment is DS6222-5 - are the phones in a bundle already sync'd with the base and won't work with other bases?

If they (hand-sets) have already been synced to a base...

The preferred way is to UN-sync from their OLD BASE.

The manufacturers are SMART ENOUGH to realize
the bases & remotes may not ALWAYS remain associated.

You must first UN-REGISTER any association with their
PREVIOUS EXISTANCE... before you can register these on your base...

Likewise... you WILL BE A LOT HAPPIER if you
UN-REGISTER the REMOTES you are planning
to retire

The numbers are quoting are wireless (remotes).

DS6222-4 Wireless handset Manual:
Results 1 8 of 8

You should also look at the instructions for
your (wired) BASE.

There are at least two ways for EVERY TASK...
(you only need one (your choice)).

SOURCE: VT2461 ADDITIONAL HANDSET PROBLEM

I can vouch for the second solution. It worked perfectly on my 2461 with two extensions. Even the vTech website was not able to provide a solution.

My iPad mini has a black screen and I can't turn it on. it was charged overnight and the charge cord is working.

Bring it back to the store/facility you bought it from, and if you have a warranty you can get a brand new one.

Hand set says connecting even before it is reset with new base.

This sounds like a registration problem, each 'old'
handset must be de-registered from its original
base and then registered to the 'new' base.

NOTE: the CS6229 handles a maximum of 5
handsets. If you have a handset displaying
"Handset #5" then you have a 'fully populated system'
even if you actually have only one or two handsets.

You will need to clear each handset ( I ) then clear
the base of all registrations ( II ) before re-registering
each handset ( III ) up to the maximum of five.
=====================================
( I ). First, to de-register a handset ---

0. Start by taking off the battery compartment cover.

1. press [menu]
2. scroll up/down to "Settings"
3. enter * 7 8 9 0 #
4. scroll down to "next page", press [select]
5. scroll down to "Register Clear?", press [select]
6. display asks "Confirm?" or "Register Clear??",
press [select]
7. display reads "Ok" and chirps, press [ off ]

8. UNPLUG THE HANDSET BATTERY
(this is why the cover was off)

9. Wait ~30 seconds, re-connect the battery &
replace the cover

10. display reads "Not Registered"
===============================

( II.) To clear the base of all handset registrations
( if needed, else skip ahead to ( III ). )

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold
past ~4 sec when the "In Use" lamp lights, at
about 10 secs the "In Use" lamp will begin to
blink. 2. release the [Find Handset] button momentarily,
then briefly press it again. After a moment,
all handsets that were registered to the base
(if any) will display "Not Registered" and be
ready for fresh registration ===============================

( III.) To register each handset to the base:

1. press [Find Handset] on the base and hold for
~4 sec until the "In Use" lamp lights.
2. press # on the handset and set the handset into
the handset cradle on the base
3. within 30 seconds or so, the handset will either
chirp and display "Handset Registered", then
"Handset #x" or it will say "Registration Failed".

NOTE: the battery must be well charged prior to the
registration process, a weak battery may cause a
"Registration Failed". Charge the battery for a
few hours and try the registration ( III ) again.

===============================
Good luck !!

VTech CS6409 register handset fails with no message

From what I read it seems you are trying to register and add a new handset to your system. I am also assuming that the handset is de-registered.

A common problem with registering a handset to this system is Owners Press and Hold the # sign before releasing it. This button is to Press and IMMEDIATELY release. DO NOT HOLD. If this does not solve your problem then

With a charged battery in the handset, the display should read "1.PRESS FIND HS ON BASE 4 SEC and 2.THEN PRESS # ON HANDSET" if it say so, then when you press and "IMMEDIATELY RELEASE " the # sign on the handset the information should change If the screen goes blank when you do so and return to "1.PRESS FIND HS ON BASE 4 SEC and 2.THEN PRESS # ON HANDSET" then you will have a bad battery or your base memory is full.
Replace the battery and try again. If no change then

The best way to go is to clear the system and re-register all the handsets. Begin by removing any handset from the main base cradle. Then
Press and hold /FIND HANDSET on the Main base until the IN USE light turns on and starts to flash. then release it, then without pause Press and Release it again. That will clear the system and de-register all your handsets.
All handsets will show 1.PRESS FIND HS ON BASE 4 SEC and 2.THEN PRESS # ON HANDSET. To re-register follow this instruction

I am trying to replace a handeset on my E5640 answering system. I have followed the procedures to deregister the existing handsets but it will not accept the base code for the last one. The handset I am...

  • Your telephone can accommodate up to four cordless handsets. You can add new handsets (Model E560-2, sold separately) at any time, but each must be registered with the base before use.
  • The handset provided with your telephone is automatically registered as Handset 1.
  • Additional handsets will be assigned numbers in the order they are registered (2, 3 or 4). You can register a maximum of four handsets.
To de-register all handsets
• Unplug the power supply from the base unit.
• Remove all handsets from the charge cradles and base.
• Plug in the power supply while pressing and holding the HANDSET LOCATOR button.
• Continue pressing HANDSET LOCATOR until the IN USE and CHARGING indicators are lit (this could take up to 10 seconds).
• Release the HANDSET LOCATOR button.
• All handsets will display: ENTER BASE ID: XXXXXXXXXX
Once the base indicators turn off (up to 30 seconds), the handsets have been de-registered from the base, and can now be re-registered.

To re-register a handset:
• Make sure your handset batteries are properly installed and charged.
• Your handset will display "ENTER BASE ID".
• Enter the 15-digit Base ID number from the bottom of the base unit.
• Press SELECT to accept the new code and complete re-registration.

To re-register a handset to a new base unit:
• Make sure your handset batteries are properly installed and charged.
• Unplug the old base unit. Your handset will display "SEARCHING...".
• Install the new base unit by plugging it into an electrical outlet and phone jack.
• Press and hold the SELECT key until the handset displays "ENTER BASE ID".
• Enter the new 15-digit Base ID number from the bottom of the new base unit.
• Press SELECT to accept the new code and complete re-registration. The handset is now registered to the new base.

UNIDEN EXP7900 NEW BATTERY CHARGED, GREEN STATUS LIGHT ON, BUT CANNOT GET A DIAL TONE. THIS WAS AFTER THE PHONE HAD BEEN UNPLUGED FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS.

I have a Uniden DECT 6.0, 2 handset phone. I charged the batteries twice for at least 15 hours. I usually unplug the base at night and plug it back in in the morning. Both the phones lose their charge overnight. My old Uniden phone never lost its charge. Is this because the new batteries are smaller than the old ones? Are the batteries bad? I bought this phone from Ebay who said this was a brand new phone, box never opened. Thank you.

Adding a new handset

You need to register the new handset with the base.
In Global settings De-register the new handset then place it on the main base unit connected. It should then register.

Uniden handset doesn't work

If you replaced it with a working new battery pack. You can test it in another phone. The Battery pins on the phone board could have a poor connection which requires soldering.

Cordless Phone

You did record a message on the answerer, didn't you? Mine displayed that until I recorded the outgoing message for the answerer. You do not need any service from your phone provider. The answerer in the base unit simply records the caller's message when you don't answer after a set number of rings. The manual tells you how to name the handset, which is a nice feature if you don't wish to use "unit 1, unit 2, etc".
