I am thinking about buying a Life Fitness Elliptical 9100 but the display does not work. How do you troubleshoot this problem. I am only paying $35 for the machine.

The battery is definitely the #1 culprit in this situation. When you use the machine, you actually help keep the battery charged. When the machine is not in use, it gradually loses its ability to hold a charge.
Chances are, if it has not been used in over a year, the battery would need to be replaced. You may be able to recharge, but more than likely the battery will not hold the charge long, if at all.
