SOURCE: non- system disk or disk error

This means it cannot read the HDD in the machine. Have you left a disk in the CD/DVD slot or a usb drive in one of the usb ports?

You may have to insert your operating system disk in the CD/DVD drive and do a repair installation.

SOURCE: non-system disk or disk error

Your laptop isn't seeing your hard drive to boot up the system. You need to replace the hard drive.

SOURCE: i cant boot up my laptop it says non-system disk

For whatever reason, you laptop can't see you windows installation. If you havea copy of the windows cd, you can try to run a repair, (press r when prompted). If this fails I'm afraid that you would need to re-install windows, which means any data on your laptop would be lost.

Sounds like a disk issue. It kind find the OS so it's then trying to PXE boot (boot from the network). Have you changed the boot order recently? or do you have a USB key connected to your server? are you able to connect to the management interface (hp ilo, dell drac) to see if you had any raid or other hardware issues?

Laptop won'y start up has non-system disk or disk error

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard diskhas failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty.First - re-seat the harddisk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot andgo into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If itdoesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty. Then the hard drive needsto be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer orlaptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioningcomputer/laptop again.

Hi,

About the Disk Error message your machine have. It means that the Storage Device(Hard Disk Drive or HDD) in you machine is about to go bad or its already bad, what I suggest try to back up your data ASAP by removing the HDD of your machine and take it to any Computer Local Center and have them backup you data and they can also tell you if the HDD is already bad that they can't backup your data.

Every time the system is turned on it says Non-system disk or disk error, replace and strick any key when ready. There are no disk in the disk drive or the sd drive. No matter how many keys you strike...

Your computer tries to "boot" from various devices:
* bootable files on a USB memory-stick or SD memory-card
* from 3.5-inch diskette drive (if installed)
* from CD/DVD disk
* from your disk-drive

Your computer tried to boot from your disk-drive, but FAILED to do so.

Since the disk-drive is "dead", it tries to boot from any of the other devices,
and displays that error-message when it cannot boot.

So, your disk-drive has "died". Ouch!

You need to purchase a new disk-drive, and reinstall Windows onto it.

When trying to do a Sytem recovery, I get an Error Message.

Recovering the system without using Windows
  1. Disconnect all peripherals and internal non preinstalled devices from the PC, except the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
  2. Turn on the computer.
  3. When the initial blue HP screen appears, press the F10 key repeatedly until a recovery menu appears. The progress indicator that first appears does not indicate that a recovery is taking place. The progress indicator represents the time before the recovery process is started.
  4. When the Recovery screen appears, click Next, and then click Yes to perform a normal, non-destructive recovery.
  5. To perform a destructive recovery, click Advanced, and then click Yes.
  6. After the System Recovery is complete, and the computer starts successfully, update the computer software as follows:

Non system disk or disk error

This error can be a couple of things. If the "boot block" on the disk has become faulty, the system won't recognize that the disk has an operating system on it and will generate this error message. If the disk is defective completely, the same error will occur. If you have a boot floppy or CD, try re-writing the boot block on the disk. If that fails to resolve the problem, the disk is defective and will need to be replaced.

Hp CUE Status Root has stopped working ERROR

You should try using Windows Restore. Restore the computer back to when it worked correctly. Then try downloading the latest software for your scanner, etc. from the appropriate websites. i.e. support.hp.com

etc...

That's probably the easiest way to do it.

I have a HP 8595c computer. I put a DVD in and it froze. I restarted the computer and now it won't boot up proberly. I get this message. "Non-System disk or disk error Replace and strike any key...

Non-System Disk or Disk Error results when the Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) cannot find the boot sector or the master boot record is missing or damaged; i.e. the device does not have bootable media. The BIOS searches drives in the order usually specified in the CMOS Setup. This order is often, but not always, A: (floppy drive), C: (first partition on the hard disk)… The error will occur during startup if the CMOS is set so the BIOS seeks the floppy drive first and a non-bootable (or blank) floppy is in (was left in) the floppy drive. Other causes include:

No bootable partition on a hard disk drive
  • A defective hard disk drive
  • The CMOS drive settings (parameters) are not correct for the boot device
  • Defective floppy
  • Defective floppy drive
  • A virus
  • Not finding what you are looking for?
