Dell 3300mp Projector Loud Noise

The projector was being used about a week ago, when a loud like almost power surge noise occurred. Now when the projector is turned on, the image comes in fine however, there is a very loud almost fan like noise that shakes the case causing the image to be fuzzy. There are no warning lights on and about 1000 hours on it.

Judging by the mains hum noise and now shaking it sounds as if a motorized component has broken.
Humming could have been the initial jam, then shaking the damaged part attempting to rotate.
Maybe check your cooling fan blades?

Hi

If the fan is not working, the lamp will not fire. Kindly make sure that the panels are seated properly. Also chek if the outer cover is seated back 100% as if that is not seated back 100%, the unit will not work.

I have dell 3300mp,when I turn the power on it makes a very loud noise. It does not make the sound in standby or cool down. It does work and display a signal okay, but it is very loud. Sound like a fan?,...

The main fan that cools the lamp is mostly high speed when the unit is running. when it shuts down it slows the fan down, until it stops in standby. So the noise is only really loud when it is showing a picture.

try setting the fan to eco mode (slower running) and see if the noise is acceptable. If it is still too loud then you will have to replace it. Have a look at the fan and see if any of the plastic blades are missing.

Make sure the cooling fan is working and air is reaching the light source, you can hear it running (low whirling noise) when you turn it on, if not that is the problem.

Using a Dell 3300MP Multimedia Projector trying to connect to a mac via usb...says "cannot find signal", nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?

you cannot pass a signal through a usb input. USB inputs on a computer are usually used from firmware upgrades or mouse control depending on projector.

Dvd10 optoma projector makes a loud noise

Hi, I'm not sure if it's the same problem I had..
I had it on picture mute, for maybe 15 mins, which may not have been a good idea. While it was muted, it made a sparking sound, and then a very loud grinding noise. When turned off, the lound noise stops, and the fan continues as usual for about a minute. As soon as it's turned back on, the grinding noise is back. But the logo seemed to display ok.

I took it in for repairs, and they said they needed to replace the color wheel to fix the problem.

Projector stays on for 3 minutes then turns itself off

Hi Chipped Rice

The loud buzzing noise you heard was the colourwheel that gave in.

Now what happens is , the machine will turn on and go through the whole cycle and as soon as the colourwheel is supposed to start doing it's stuff the Projector will switch off because there is no response from the coulourwheel itself.

You will have to replace the colourwheel unfortunately as it cannot be fixed.

Thanks for using Fixya !
