LG LHD45EL Dehumidifier

Just bought this unit.I want to connect the hose connector to drain directly into a tub. I removed the plastic drain hole cover. Then I assembled a garden hose to the threaded end of the drain connector. Now it says to "Push the hose connector tightly to the drain-hole on the rear Grill." However, there is a plastic membrane in the way which I am loathe to break unless that's what is required. Does anyone have experience with this or should I return the unit to the store ?

i did that. but the drain connection to the humidfier leaks and still fills up the bucket. any advice

I just replaced the water pump and timing belt in my car but i can't get a dehumidifier to drain the way it's supposed to? I have it connect just like it says in the manual but it still fills up the bucket. There's no seal around the connection and the tube is not angled enough for the water to drain down it so just runs out. I'm just going to buy a small flexible hose and a hose clamp from the hardware store.

When you insert the hose adapter tube, slide it straight in until it mates with a drain connection inside the unit. You can see this black pipe connection if you pull the bucket drawer all the way out and look in the very top right hand corner of the opening of the unit. Once the white tube is fully and correctly inserted you'll find two plastic tabs on the tube near the hose connection. The larger tab points straight up and blocks the tube from being inserted too far. The smaller tab points down and hooks into the slot in the bottom of the round opening to keep it from getting knocked loose. Your dehumidifier should now drain through the hose instead of into the bucket. Of course, be sure your hose is routed across a floor to a drain or sump pump located lower than the unit, since the water flows by gravity. If you need to move the water uphill you'll need to buy a small utility pump with a water collector and float switch. These are commonly sold for pumping A/C condensate water to an overhead drain pipe. You should be able to find one online or at a HVAC dealer.

Push through the membrane with the drain connector. The membrane has a circular cut almost all the way through it, and pushing at it with the drain connector will pop out the little hole. I've done it with four LG units.

How do i make it continue to run with no bucket so it does not fill and and so i don't have to empty it

Attach a length of garden hose no longer than 5 feet, to the threaded drain hose connection that was supplied with your unit, to carry water to the drain.
1. Remove the drain-hole cover on the back left side of your unit.
2. Connect a garden hose to the threaded drain hose connector.
3. Push hose connector tightly to the drain-hole on Rear Grille with the arrow on the tab pointing UP.
The hose attachment will accept a standard garden hose fitting.
Do not over tighten the hose when connecting it to the hose connector,
use a rubber washer and tighten by hand firmly without stripping the
plastic threads.
When being attached to hose connector drain hose connection,
do not bend or kink the hose. The hose should lie flat from the
dehumidifier to the drain.

I have a lg lhd45elt8 dehumidifier i bought used i want to hook up the hose connection i see on the back a plastic chip that needs to be removed and the hose pipe is just inserted? then connect a drain...

I own this dehumidifier. To connect it to a garden hose for drainage you first need the special connector pipe/adapter that comes with the unit. It's white plastic and about a foot long, It may be stored in the top of the bucket drawer, where it ships from the factory. Your hose connects to the threaded fitting on one end. The other end is inserted into the hole in the back of the unit. You slide it straight in until it mates with a drain connection inside the unit.

How is the external tube for draining outside connected to the dehumidifier. Does the tube insert into the right angle nipple, then the threded end conected to a drain hose?

No. The tube inserts straight into the drain hole. Follow the 4 sets below.

1. Connect a garden hose to the threaded drain hose connector.
2. Remove the drain-hole cover.
3. Push hose connector tightly into the drain-hole on Rear Grille.
4. Press the hose down and make sure the "Arrow" on the tab is pointing upward.

NOTE:
The hose attachment will accept a standard garden hose fitting. Do not over tighten the hose when
connecting it to the hose connector, use a rubber washer and tighten by hand firmly without stripping the plastic threads. Be sure the hose lays flat and has no kinks, as it will not drain properly.

I have LG LHD45EL Dehumidifier this humidifier and it's not collecting any/very little water, even after we had 1-week of rain and seepage in teh room it's being used it. Is there some type of filter/part...

Cleaning the air intake filter certainly won't hurt. Also, check the humidity setting. You may have it set to low. In addition, it wouldn't hurt to check the drain tube or drain hole (whichever one your unit has) that's just above the bucket. You'll see it once you remove the bucket. It may be clogged and is not allowing the water to drain properly. Using a 18" long plastic Zip Tie or something similar (No wire coat hangers) that will comfortably fit into the hole ... Carefully and gently run it as far as you can into the drain hole or tube. The tricky part is when you reach the bend in the tube. So, tread carefully. Once you have it inserted as far possible, as you rotate the Zip Tie, slowly pull it out. Rotating it, will loosen any debris. Be prepared for water to follow.

If none of the above solves the problem, the compressor in the dehumidifier may be low on refrigerant gas and will need to be recharged.

Hope this helps you troubleshoot and solve the problem.

I attached a hose to the drain hose connector. When I insert it into the drain hole it is blocked by the back of the dehumidifier. What iw the correct way to insert? Can you send a better diagram?

The drain hose connector MUST be attached to the unit, before attaching the garden hose.
First, the connector is attached to the unit. Second, the hose is hand tightened to the connector.
If you haven't been doing it in this order, that's the problem.

Can a hose be attached to the LG 45 dehumidifier to allow to drain as it fills?

Yes a hose can be connected to this unit.

1. Remove the drain-hole cover from the back of the unit.
2. Connect a garden hose to the threaded hose connector.
3. Push the hose connector tightly to the drain-hole on the back of the unit

This is explained on the manual on page 12. Hope this helps

Is it possible to attach a hose to drain the water continuously without my having to empty the bucket every day? If so where and how do I do that? Thank you.

The easiest way is to put a hole in the bucket( by using a a hole saw) and attach a pvc fitting(male adapter with a rubber washer and nut) and hook a hose or pvc pipe that will drain the unit of its water. Good Luck

I purchased a LG Dehumidifier MODEL LHD45EL and I followed instructions to attach a hose to it for the drain. I removed the drain hole cover and I don't see a drain hole connector or a hole to install it...

Remove the drain bucket. on the top there are two pieces that can be removed just by taking them out. they are just laying in there. 1 is the brush the other is the "drain tube insert" it is a plastic tube and has a threaded fitting on one end. take your garden hose with a female connector on one end just like you were going to install on your spicket outside of your house and connect it to the threaded end of the "drain tube insert" make sure you knockout the round plastic drain plug cover hole located in the back of the unit (it is behind where your power cord was stored) it has three tabs to break. remove drain bucket. take the drain tube with hose attatched and insert it into the drain plug hole in the back and attach it onto the drain outlet (the drain outlet is inside the drain bucket side at the top it looks like an elbow fitting) push the tube so that the flap with the arrow is flush with the back. once you get the "drain tube insert" almost all the way flush with the back -->if you look inside the drain bucket side you will see where it fits over the drain outlet

LG Dehumidfier

When you install the drain tube, be sure that it is placed into the drain hole in the dehumidifier. You then will be able to "latch" the tube at the hose end by lowering onto the outer hole opening. This maintains a tight connection and the water will drain properly.
