Do you have main menu, if so, go to view - toolbars and then select or click standard. If not try to reinstall or repair the win xp.

Cannot see desktop

Hi Not sure if you mean no display or just missing start menu, if former doe you have a light on the monitor, amber means no signal from PC, check the vga/dvi cable is secure or change for another if you have one, if green after boot do you see any display on start up then it goes blank (try starting in safe mode to see if you get the display.

If the later option, can see the screen but no task bar and start button at the bottom of the screen try pressing the Windows key on the keyboard, this should bring up the menu option.

Lost my internet exployer task bar on top of screen

You can always show the Favorites, Command, Status, and Menu bars by right-clicking the Tools button getcontent.aspx?assetid=448ef968-d58a-43a2-b0cc-f396f4024f2c&documentset=en-us&prod=win700&market=us on the right, then select them from the drop down menu.

Website toolbar is not showing up

To add a toolbar, click Tools, then Toolbars from the Command bar or right-click on the Command bar to see a list of toolbar options. You can activate or deactivate a number of Internet Explorer toolbars from this menu option. You can even Lock the Toolbars to make Internet Explorer 8 show the same toolbars each time you use the browser.

To add or remove Add-ons, click Tools from the Command bar and select Manage Add-ons from the drop-down menu. From this menu you can view and manage a list of different Add-on Types you've got installed in the browser. To add more, click on the Find more providers... option at the bottom of the window. To delete an Add-on, highlight the one you wish to remove and select Remove, or select Disable if you wish to leave it installed but make it inactive.

Internet explorer task bar missing

Try pressing the left Alt key alone. Does the menu bar appear?
Try right-clicking the area where the menu bar is supposed to be. Try different spots around the upper part of the window, eventually you should see in the context menu an option to turn on the menu bar.

Within Internet Explorer, touch and release the ALT key, to expose more "menu" items: File/Edit/View/Favourites/Tools/Help.

Icons and start upmenu bar absent

explorer.exe is what displays the icons and the startup bar on the screen so try opening explorer.exe from the task manager. Or if it is already running close it and then reopen it.

Internet explorer does not open

If the internet connection is working but IE doesn't get to a page this generally has to do with either your DNS settings or your IE settings regarding the connection.

Please try this then reply back with the results:

open start menu, then RUN box(XP) or click into the searchbar(Vista)

Type cmd then hit enter, once the command window opens type IPCONFIG /ALL

a fair bit of info will scroll by and you will have to scroll the page up to find it but report back with your IP address, subnet mask, gateway and DNS server addresses and we can continue from there

What program are working with, can you tell me?
If it is Internet Explorer, the bar in the bottom is status bar.
It's at the
Main menu - View - Status Bar
make sure it is checked...
Good Luck :)
