Question about HP 17bII Calculator

HP 17 B ii - how to fix date setting ?

My boss claims his calculator is not functioning properly ie 'date settings are off'. I've reset the unit using tips from this site here but I'm not sure if i've solved the problem (i dont use bond calculators).

Is there anyway i can check the calculator by myself to ensure the date settings are correct ?

Many thanks
Adrian

Getting Weighted Std Dev for probability..

Sorry, boss.

But getting standard deviation from a probability distribution would probably be best done by hand (of course, with the use of a computational device for those hard-to-reach fractions).

If your distribution question has a long line of events (IE, data points) then you'd probably want to use a more advanced calculator.

Nevertheless....I will return this afternoon with a more informed answer after I tinker with my BA-II Plus.

Whenever I do these, though, I usually pop open my TI89 Titanium (or of course just do it by hand).

STAY TUNED, MO...

I was tryin to do some some simple interest on my calculator and when I was computing the days between daates using the 2nd and 1 function ... I put in the first date pressed enter and "error 6"...

You've input an invalid date, for example the month greater than 12 or the day greater than 31. The BA-IIPlus can handle dates in two different formats, the US MM-DD-YYYY and the European DD-MM-YYYY formats. Make sure you enter the date in the proper one. You can see current the format by pressing 2nd [FORMAT] down-arrow down-arrow and change it by pressing 2nd [SET]. Press 2nd [QUIT] when done.

Set the date & time

I'm going to quote dsteele04 on this one (he is a user of this site).

1. Switch the GT*RATE SET button to RATE SET.
2. Press the date/clock button to display current time.
3. Enter time wanted using military time. 4:52 p.m would be entered as 16.52 (Note the 16 is followed by . then enter the 52. (ie. 10:45 a.m. would be entered as 10.45)
4. Press the date/clock button again to enter new time.

Just reset mine and is current. If the built in battery needs changed, access panel is on the back. It uses a watch type battery.

I have the same problem I can not change date and time

Setting the date:

1. Press the CALENDAR/CLOCK Key. The default date will appear.

2. Hold the TIME SET key down for 3 seconds or until you see the first
digit begin to blink in the display.

3. Input the correct date.

4. Firmly press and release the TIME SET key. The first digit should
stop blinking and the date is then set.

Setting the time:

1. Press the CALENDAR/CLOCK key. The default time will appear.

2. Hold the TIME SET key down for 3 seconds or until you see the first
digit begin to blink in the display.

NOTE: The seconds will disappear.

3. Input the correct time. If you need to adjust to AM or PM, press
the AM/PM accordingly.

4. Firmly press and release the TIME SET key. The first digit should
stop blinking and the time is then set. The seconds will again be
displayed.

Follow by pressing the CLEAR key to return to the calculator mode. To
return to either the TIME or DATE, press the CALENDAR/CLOCK key to
toggle between them.

NOTE: If unsuccessful attempts to set the date and time have been made,
please first confirm that the piece of paper/plastic in the battery
compartment on the bottom of the unit has been removed. Then reset the
unit by inserting the tip of a ball point pen into the "RESET" hole on
the bottom of the calculator. The calculator should be on and in the
"Print" mode so that you can hear the calculator reset.

Are you talking about TVM calculations? If so, you need to change your payments per year setting (P/Y) from 1 to 12. That should fix it. Hit 2nd, (I/Y), 12 and then ENTER.

Setting date onCanon P23 DHV

I'm not positive because I pushed several buttons just trying to get it set and stay set -- but I think I did the following: fist push the "time set" button, ie the "memory plus" button then push the "format" button, ie the red "minus" button to change the settings -- continue until you have set the date and time -- then when you are finished you have to push the "time set" button, ie the "memory plus" button again to set it in place -- at least I think that's what I did
