Your R terminal in your air-handler is the 24v power that goes to the tstat. Look at the air-handler and match the color wire. ALL tstats have a power wire going to them. If you aren't getting power, you probably have a break somewhere in the wiring close to the thermostat you are replacing.

Yes, if you don't have power at all and nothing will come on, there is typically a fuse on the control board. It should be a 5 amp fuse. If you shorted the power wire at any time when replacing the tstat, it will blow this fuse. When you replace your tstat, make sure you have the power to the unit off at the breaker box or utilize the breakers on they system its self. Some units do not have breakers on the unit its self. Hope this helps.

Ok, check that you haven't blown the transformer. If you do have 24v leaving the transformer, then you have a broken wire somewhere. If you don't have 24v leaving and and you have 240 entering the transformer, then it's gone bad. These are the only things left.

The temp. control contact switches are burnt on an older RUUD furnace mod. # LR-125JD. need to find the part.

I'm not sure what unit you have. Worked on many Rheen/Ruud units. When a blower control gives up, I wire in a 90-340 relay. Single pole double throw if I'm can recall correctly. Most HVAC parts houses are wholesale only, but money talks! You will need to know how to wire it though. Not hard if you understand electricity. You probably won't find an exact replacement for an older unit. If it's newer, find a rheem dealer. Hope this helps!

How can you be sure about replacement parts on older RUUD units? I've got a RUUD UHQA 1015T that my home warranty company wants to just replace the coil on...rather than replace the whole unit....

I would ask what the price difference is between replacing the coils and replacing the unit. Then make my decision. If the the unit is 12 years or older, then i would take what they are offering to replace the coils and replace the unit.

Ruud uhqa sill runs when i turn off t stat contactor test good and is not stuckhit breaker and back on and fan stops running goes on when t stat is turned on stays on till i trip breaker again i think it...

Your sentence is hard to understand because there is no punctuation. But, I think you are saying that the Outside unit is still running when the inside unit is off and the Thermostat indicates it should be off. If so, you have a stuck relay outside in the compressor/condenser unit. This is common. The contacts get hot and fuse themselves together. You will have to remove the cover on the unit outside to expose the relay. MAKE SURE THE BREAKER IS OFF. If you house is to code there will be a disconnect box on the wall just above the AC unit outside. PULL THE DISCONNECT> then use a flat head screw driver and slight pry the contacts apart. If they are fused very tight you may need to replace the relay. If they break free put every thing back together and you're done. If you this happens again soon you will need to replace relay.

Furnace runs on heat, air conditioner does not

If you have a Gas furnace in the Attic then the answer is yes. The outside condenser will not run if in fact you have a gas furnace.
