How many time do this red light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it. These blinks are called fault indication, called blinking codes. If you wish to get more details about these blinking codes, check this site. It has blinking codes details to many brand TVs including Sony. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Pull up previous posts, either by brand search, or view it in Mosaic / Timeslide / Flipcard option.

The most common problem (I have fixed lots) is the Vertical amplifier has developed a loose connection. It probably just needs resoldering. As things expand it makes and looses connection you picture goes in and out. The vertical chip is a large black chip that gets hot, over time it degrades the solder until a connection is damaged. Most newer sets have a protection circuit that senses the lack of height, and shuts down the picture tube to save it. When the picture dropped to a line on older TVs and left that way too long it would burn a line into the face of the picture tube. You then had to have the picture tube replaced along with the vertical amp. it's kinda like a screensaver for your TV.

SOURCE: Sony Vega Service Codes

KV-32HS510 and KV-27HS420, seven times blink error code shows problem in Horizontal deflection circuit.

There are many possibilities like dry solder joints, weak capacitors, Horizontal transistor short or flyback transformer fried etc.

If you have little experience of TV repair and good solder skills and have necessary tools to test / check defective parts, then you can make it. you also need to have related service manual to see board location, schematics and part numbers.

Hi,
Symptom shows Lamp is weak in result and causing restart of TV again and again. Your TV requires new lamp as per following part number...
A1085447A* LAMP BLOCK ASSY XL-2200U
It is available in Sony Accessories Store for $200 and replacement procedure is written in instruction manual of TV.

Always buy Sony original lamp for TV and avoid aftermarket / cheap lamp for TV safety.

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described can't be fixed with
troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired. There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. If you're still in warranty, the TV will be repaired at no charge to you. The warranty would likely be at least one year from the date of purchase from the manufacturer. If you purchased an extended service plan they will repair the TV at no charge as well.

If the TV is no longer in warranty, it will likely cost a minimum of $150 parts and labor. This is assuming that you only need one
circuit board or small part. If the problem is more than one of the circuit boards, the price of repair could go much higher.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Sony Vega KDF-E5OA10,picture will not come on, tv goes off.

There is a real good chance that the lamp fan is not turning. If you look with a flashlight in the vent on the left side looking at the rear of the set and have someone turn on the unit, see if it spins. if it doesnt, the protect circuit in the tv will not let the set turn on. Replacing the fan will cure the proplem if it is not turning.
Hope this helps,

Sony grand vega 55" will blink green for three times than red blinking under the power light. nothing comes on no sound, no picture and no fan's are running. Tried to change the bulb, power board...

Your problem is your thermal fuse.It is located around the bottom of the compartment that houses the lamp. You will have to remove the lamp and take the bottom back panel off. Then you will have to remove the fan. I ordered the thermal fuse so I would know what I was looking for when I started to replace it. If you take your time and are patient enough you can fix it yourself. I fixed mine and it's working great.GOOD LUCK!!!

Tv blinks and turns off

You likely have an open thermal fuse. There is a whole procedure for replacing the thermal fuse and some adjustments that should be done when you replace it. If you feel like you are reasoonably technical and can handle the job, I'll try and walk you through it. If not, your best bet is to find a qualified Sony tech in your area. If you contact Sony at 800-222-SONY and they can recommend one in your area

Picture Fades to Black

Sounds to me like a bad solder connection. I would suspect the crt filiments first, since you said it fades out. Could be bad solder connections any number of places.
