I've owned my Lenovo v570 for a little over a year now and had no issues until about a month ago when it stopped recognizing DVDs. IT started when I got a new video game in DVD format and the drive would spin but continuously say there was no disc in the drive. I've also attempted with movies I have verified as working and it still says no disc. It does read CDs when I rip them but it takes a lot longer to rip than it used too. It used to play dvds and cds perfectly, I'm not sure what's changed. I've accessed the component properties in the control panel and it says it is functioning properly and the drivers are up to date. Please help.

It looks like its your CD Rom itself.....have you tried cleaning the head with a head cleaning disc .....if this doesn't help replace the Rom

Take a can of air and blow it on the laser then try to see if it will read both cd's and dvd's. If it doesn't read one or the other then the dvd-rw would need to be replaced.
it means that your dvd lens is already damage. change your dvd player.

Hi
Type of media settings might be the issue but making a change for standard CD/DVD recording (it affects reading too) Issue can be resolved. Right click on the CD/DVD drive (Usually D drive ) click on properties and select and choose the recording option. Click the enable CD recording for this drive option
Click on apply and OK. Try again. You may try after reboot the computer. If issue persist please post so we can think about some alternate solutions.
Good Luck
