Nitin m patil,

Wireless Switch

Wireless Technology

  1. The Vostro 1510 system ships with a wireless feature called the wireless switch. It is located on the left side of the system next to the ExpressCard slot. This switch serves to dectivate or activate the wireless antenna.

Wireless Switch LED Settings
The LED (located on the Hinge Cover) on the wireless switch works only when the system is powered on. A user can activate the switch and have it scan for networks only after going through a complete boot process. The switch is used to detect only wireless signals. This setting is in the BIOS under the Wireless section.
The LED indicates the following functionality:
  • Solid Blue - The system has detected a wireless signal.
  • Off - The system failed to detect a wireless device installed.
Thank You,

SOURCE: KEYBOARD STUCK ON FN KEYS

Start the computer and go into Safe Mode by pressing the F8 key repeatedly when you see the Dell splash screen. Select Safe Mode at the top of the list. When SM is fully loaded, you will see a windows telling you that you are in SM. There will be two buttons at the bottom of the window. Click the right button to do a system restore. Choose a date just before the mishap with the external keypad. It will restore the computer to how it was at that time and restart Windows.

Good luck, and please let me know how it works out.

Fn+num lk not working

There is no standard meaning to any Fn +Fx key combinations. It depends on the manufacturer and the laptop model.
Usually the Fn key works in combination with the Function (Fn) keys F1-F12, and maybe ESC.

In my Toshiba, there is an overlaid numeric pad that can be activated by pressing Fn +F11. Once the sequence is pressed the F11 key led remains lit, and the overlay active. Pressing the F11 key restores the normal keyboard. Fn+Num Lock does not do anything.
Please check you laptop's manual to familiarize yourself with the uses of the Fn key on YOUR computer.

Sylvania Netbook F11 and F12 Key Function

You may need to download and install the latest BIOS update for this function to work, but here it the key combos for both the F11 and F12 function keys.

With the latest BIOS update, Fn+Z should be F11 and Fn+X should be F12.

The computer tells me the hardware radio switch is turned off on my ASUS U52 notebook. But I can't find out where/how to turn it on.

The radio switch key is the 3rd key from left top row, all top row keys are function keys. To activate the function on the keys you need to hold down the function key, located bottom row 2nd from left (fn) key. Hold down the fn key and press the radio key. That will switch the radio off and on.

Num lock activated and can't turn it off

One of your Function keys (F11, F12, etc., usually F11) will also have the NumLock function on them. So when you hold Fn and press F11, it will toggle the Number Lock. Try holding Fn and press F11, this should turn it off (and back on should you ever want to use it again). Your keyboard should be labeled with the various functions keys have when Fn is pressed, you may have to look for the one that reads NumLk.
