Possible there are errors in the PC and so the phone is not recognised. You can transfer the pictures by removing the micro sd card and inserting on a card adapter to be directly read on the card reader on the laptop. If this is not possible you can activate bluetooth on the phone and laptop and get the files transferred easily after detection.
finally remove any programs particularly if a phone was installed earlier and reinstall the Phone.

Just go to

1. nokia site and download the nokia PC SUITE.
2. install in our laptop
3. connect your mobile to laptop with your data cable
4. your phone will be connected to you lap.
5. in the pc suite you can find a icon to connect to the internet.
6. click on it and enjoy!!

When you plug the Nokia USB cable into your computer it will request permission to download files from Nokia. Nokia has a nice PC program with utilities for the cell phone. It should have the software solution you need.

what program do you need?
if you you want to install application to your phone from computer you need to install nokia pc suite first at your computer to syncronize your phone to computer

ok look if you have a pc you can download a program called nokia pc suite once that has downloaded you can download a program called nokia update service follow the on screen instructions and this shoud solve the problem
(usb cable required)

You need Nokia PC Suite. Please Download it from nokia.com. Once you downloaded and installed on ur PC all is done.
