Bought toshiba portege m200 laptop on E-bay. It has a harddrive password that warns, in the bios, that it can not be removed. Can it?
I know if I bring it to a toshiba repair shop, they can do it for a lot of money. Do you have the answer for me?
A hard drive password can only be removed by the person who knows the password because then it can be cleared thru the BIOS.
Otherwise the only other way around it is the buy a new hard drive so it doesn't have a password and you can then reinstall the operating system on the hard drive and then put the drivers on it and any other programs that you want on it.

Is this a password you have to enter before the laptop will boot to Windows?
