My fan Ive had my ps3 since it came out, it is a 60 GB ps3.. I turned it on yesterday to play cod4 and it shut off and hasn't worked since then. I left it alone over night assuming it was a overheating problem. I turned it on and it wont play any game without shutting off 5 mins after. I Listened and didn't hear my fan working at all. Its out of warranty and I have no idea how to go about solving this problem. Buying a new ps3 isn't an option.

Take it back and get a new one.

man lsn carefully, at the current time i am writing this to u i am formating my PS3 becauz of COD4 MW2 :S man i swear that there are alot of problems in this game on PS3, i dont have the same problem as yours but man check if ur PS3 has the latest update also u have to know that there was an update for COD4 MW2 u should have it too, but im so sure that there is something wrong with this game :S:S:S:S:S:S

The cpu and gpu quickly gets hot if you have faulty fans and or the heatsink pads have disintrigated,
Try using a vaccum cleaner to remove any dust from the vents.
Listen and check for fans running and lastly you may need to do the x clamp repair mod.

If fans are running and all vents are clean and your warranty has expired on the console (check with microsoft), then go to ebay and look for x clamp repair kit and purchase the kit it should come with steel washers, heat treated nylon washers, screws and thermal paste. Make sure the seller also includes a guide on how to do the repair. These mods are pretty cheap BUT INVOLVES OPENING YOUR CONSOLE SO BE CAREFUL AND WILL VOID ANY WARRANTY.

My PS3 shuts off 15 minutes after I play can I fix the problem in system settings

1-turn off game console..............2-disconnect router for 20 seconds then reconnect............3-turn on game console..............4-go to setting click on network setting.................5-go to internet connection and press X and disable the connection wait 10 seconds and renable the connection and cod4 should work fine on line.............................

When you play online games it will usually require more system resources to power. Your processor also handles the data that is being sent and received during your online session. Some code for online games have more overhead than others. I do not believe that it has anything to do with your machine, but more the software and network overhead that the multiplayer game requires. If you notice that both single and multiplayer run on seperate executables...

Single Player = C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3sp.exe
Multiplayer = C:\Program Files\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\iw3mp.exe

Have you the original Cod4 or have a cracked one?
If you have the original,you must create account,log in and recently refresh the dedicated servers list.
Watch out,not all of these servers are free!!
If altrough have you an exception,check your internet connect.

u have taken a right decision u havt to buy a new graphic cards while buying card just read the manual of cod4 it shows the latest graphics that supports the manual will be in cod4 game file

yea mine 2 but i cant load anything ive had mine for a yr and 12 days and it worked fine untill i played cod4 now only thing that works is the internet
