Hello Duane, I am happy to assist you. Typically, error code F4 indicates a lockout error. Try resetting the unit by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. This usually clears most false error codes. Wait approximately ten minutes and if the error code does not clear, I would recommend contacting a professional to proceed further. Most likely the EOC (electronic oven control) or the Lockout Control Board on the appliance will need replacing.

What's F4 error code stands for?

Hello Richard;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

You did not provide a model number and manufacturer. So, the following is a general description of a F4 code.

The error code "F4" will be displayed along with a beeping sound if the ERC (Electronic Range Control) or "clock" determines an open oven temperature sensor circuit during the "cook" (bake or broil) mode. The "F4" message will not be displayed in the time of day mode. The cause of the problem is a bad oven temperature sensor or its wire harness. The access to the oven temperature sensor plug and the wires is from the back only. You have to pull the oven out of the wall (if it's free standing) or remove it from the cabinet (if it's built in). Disconnect the power and remove the rear cover. Check the resistance across the oven temperature sensor. It is supposed to be about 1100 Ohms at room temperature. If the resistance is incorrect, the oven temperature sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. If not, check all the wires from the oven temperature sensor to the ERC. If it is not the sensor and wires, you have to replace the ERC.
To get the right replacement part just click on the link AppliancePartsPros, then type the model number of your oven in the search box, click on the "search" button and in the new window type the word "sensor" or the word "clock" in the "search by keyword" box and click the "search" button.

You can go into the following website put in your model number and get diagrams ans component part numbers.
Your model number is on a label either on the face of the oven when you open the door or on the side of the oven door.

Fault codes F1 and F2

Just two work there:
1.- Replace the touchpad or the clock (ERC) if the code "F1" is displayed. Disconnect the ribbon connector to the touchpad. If no code is displayed after an hour, replace the touchpad. If the code displays again, replace the clock.
2.- Replace the oven temperature sensor if "F2," "F3" or "F4" is displayed. "F2" indicates the oven temperature is too hot and the oven temperature sensor is suspect. "F3" or "F4" indicates the oven temperature sensor or shorted or open.

Hi, the F2 error code means that the oven is overheating for an unknown reason. F3 and F4 indicate a problem with the oven sensor, which usually requires replacing the sensor.

While working near my Jenn Air Oven (Model JJW8527CAB) the function keys were possibly touched and the oven started displaying F7 error code and is continuously beeping. Pressing Cancel does not help....

Oven keeps beeping:
As there is no reprogramming of most control boards try this, disconnect the power and wait 30 seconds and then reconnecting the power.

If it's an "F1" fault code this generally implies an electronic oven control (EOC) failure. Disconnect the power, wait 30 seconds or longer and then reapply power. If "F1" returns upon power-up, replace the electronic oven control.
The oven control can be accessed and replaced from the rear of the control panel.

NOTE:Disconnect the power cord from the power source before removing the panel from behind the console.
If its an F2 ERROR CODE, The F2 error indicates an open circuit in the oven temperature probe.

if Your range has a resettable thermostat in series with the oven temperature probe. If this thermostat opens the clock will display F2 and the oven won't heat.
You can reset the thermostat by pushing in the reset button on top of the thermostat.
Some ovens have an alarm that will beep continuously every six seconds to alert you that the oven is still on. Usually, a kitchen timer that you have set will cause the beeping, but occasionally it can be an error with the oven's settings. If it is the kitchen timer, you can simply push the "Kitchen Timer On/Off" button to end the continuous beeping. If that does not stop the beeping, it is probably beeping due to an error. You can turn the continuous beeping off but you may still need to troubleshoot the issue that is causing the beeping noise.

My oven comes on and reaches the right temperature but then it starts beeping and shows F-2 or an F-4 in the display window. Then it stopps cooking.

Your temperature sensor is inside the oven in the top rear section. It is metal about 3 inches long. You can remove it from inside the oven. The F2 and F4 codes is a bad temp sensor.

F4 error code on Jenn-Air W30400BC expressions built in oven

Slone, F4 is the code for a shorted temperature sensor. This is the temp probe in the oven. There are 2-quarter inch screws holding it on. It should pull out through the insulation until the quick connect comes through. If you want to make sure, the sensor should ohm out at 1143 ohms at 100 degrees. I think you can be pretty sure that this is the problem. The part number I have is 704657. Catriver.
