I have a GE WHDSR316G1WW top loading washer and the drain hose located on the upper left rear of the plastic outer tub came loose. It sounded like a worn seal or bearing because it was banging so loud. I removed the control panel, top panel and front panel, reattached the drain hose into the housing hole and the problem was solved. Saved $80 service call.

When my speed queen starts a low quick banging noise is heard. tried low loads but same noise

A Speed Queen top-load washer making a banging sound at the beginning of the cycle could be a sign of a few problems. You could examine the following:
  • Size of load: Check to see that you are not overfilling the washer. The water and clothes should be about 3/4 full in the washer. Overloading the washer can result in the drum becoming unbalanced and making banging sounds.
  • Leveling: Verify that the washer is level. If not, reposition the washer's feet until it is level. A washer that is out of balance can also make banging sounds.
  • Spring elements: Examine the suspension springs at the drum's top. The drum may slam against the washer's sides if one of them has broken or come loose.
  • Motor: The motor might be the source of the banging sound. The washer may vibrate and make banging sounds if the motor is loose or damaged.

Kenmore stacking washer dryer model 970-C98802-10 banging noise on agitation cycle than loud clattering then stopped working Would that be belt?

Could be, but often a loud banging means that drum bearings have failed. Replacement is probably prohibitively expensive if it is done professionally. The parts are expensive and it is a big job. Even though I do my own repairs, I decided it was time for a new washer when this happened.

How do I check the belts or springs holding the washer tub

to check the belt or Air shock , its easy to remove the rear access panel , you can have a look for shock and motor & belt but there are a lot of reason for your complaint for doesn't spin out water and noisy when spinning it may be have kinked in the drain hose or the spin start before pumping water out properly leads to load unevenly distributed in the movement of the drum, so i believe that your problem in pumping the water out. Drum is making some really nasty banging then screaching sounds when entering high spin - any ideas??

sounds like main drum bearings not common but if the bearings are worn you get the banging noise and as it slackens the drive belt you get screeching noise as the belt slips.

On wash cycle it makes a loud banging noise

Hello, The banging noise is from loose lower front weight mounting bolts or a loose bolt securing the driven pulley. Check the motor adjustment bolt for tightness. The noise could be from a loose wire harness, plastic purse-lock wire harness retainer on upper hose hitting the top cover or a plastic injection mold standoff on the outer tub bearing housing may possibly be interfering with the driven pulley. Also, check the drive belt for a weak spot on the belt. Usually felt on the backside of the belt as a "flat" spot. Check the belt for a weak seam and replace it.
It may also occur due to the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it.
Thanks

Banging noises and leaks brown fluid. I can't see anything in the drum or at the back of the machine.

try to open the back of the washer, you'll see the drain pan filter, try to clean it, about the noise, see if the belt is still aligned or the bolt holding the motor are stil intact. if the belt is too loose, try to tighten it a little bit

Hi, our washing machine started making very loud banging and whining noise in the final spin cycle and the machine was shaking. We have taken off the back. The springs look ok. any suggestions?

Loud banging is usually an unbalanced load. whining noise is some times debris trapped in drain pump causing it to squeal like a fan belt on a car. Strings, threads and hoses tend to get wrapped under agitator and cause noise, too.
