My HP Pavillion slimline won't get out of "start up repair"

It automatically entered "start up repair mode" after turning computer back on from being idle for one week and it won't quit. We tried shutting the system down and it just goes back to "Start Up Repair". HELP, the computer is only 1 month old!

Hi,

Re-boot, keep on tapping F8, enter in, choose
"last known good" there, leave to re-boot,

Or
re-boot, F8 again, safe mode this time,
System restore then once booted into safe mode.
restart it.

Regards.

My HP Pavillion dv7 3112sa won't boot and remains

Hi, at startup try pressing f8, this should give you a menu, select 'start windows with last good configuration', this should restore windows to the state before it started rebooting randomly. Failing that...try starting in 'safemode with command prompt' and then do a 'system restore'- press f8 again at start up and then follow the instructions below. this should restore your system to a previous state when the computer wasn't doing random things.

  1. Restart your computer, and then press and hold F8 during the initial startup to start your computer in safe mode with a Command prompt.
  2. Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode with a Command prompt option.
  3. If you are prompted to select an operating system, use the arrow keys to select the appropriate operating system for your computer, and then press ENTER.
  4. Log on as an administrator or with an account that has administrator credentials.
  5. At the command prompt, type %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe, and then press ENTER.
  6. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to a functional state.
I hope that this helps you to sort out the problem. Toni

DVD tray will not go in

To verify there is nothing stuck in your drive, turn off your computer and try manually pushing the tray in GENTLY and feel if there is something blocking the tray moving. If there is nothing preventing the tray from moving manually push the tray in - start your computer and try it again. Use the eject function in windows explorer and try the retract button again. If teh button will not work try pushing the tray in manually again. Once the tray starts moving in it should automatically retract the rest of the way. If the unit will not retract on it's own by either method then the drive should be replaced.

HP Pavillion dv9000. Intermittent stops. Cannot restart, but will do so after many hours. Screen turns blue with band of torn blue that looks like shutters. System carries out repair check - once worked...

Try booting your computer in safe mode... when your machine starts press F8 and go to Windows. Run for a couple of hours and see if this problem happens.

If you have system restore running, restore back to a point when you didnt have the problem

HP Slimline Pavillion s3123w monitor going to sleep.

Sounds like the motherboard might be bad but go thru these steps.

Unseat and reseat the memory one stick at a time in each slot one at at time and turn on the computer after each stick reinsertion.

If that doesn't get the video to come back up then go ahead and unseat and reseat the CPU. Then try turning on the computer.

If that doesn't do it, make sure there is no power going to the hard drive or the dvd drive. Then try turning on the computer.

If you do all of these steps and you still have no video, then the motherboard is bad and would need to be replaced.
