Make sure it's the right ink cartridge for that model printer.
Check if any of the colors is out
Try running a calibration on the printer to make sure heads are lined up properly.

Link to the manual - Aligning print cartridges is on Page 70.

Photoshop prints only black and white

I don't know what you mean by 'set for color output', but be careful there is a way to set the printer's 'preferences' through the PS PRINT DIALOG BOX... those settings can be different than your regular printer settings. Look for it when accepting the send to printer parameters.

Want to print black and white. How?

Setting the font type color in a Microsoft Office Word document to black will ensure that the document prints the text in black. However, if there are images, graphics or photographs within the document, they will more than likely print in color or hued colors similar to black. To ensure that the entire document prints solely in black ink, you must set the color settings on your individual printer to black-and-white

Instructions:
1.Click "File" and then "Print." To open the print dialogue box using keyboard commands, press "CTRL" and "P" simultaneously.
2.Select the printer you are using at the top of the dialogue box under "Printer" and "Name."
3.Click the "Properties" button next to the selected printer. The dialogue box that appears is different for all users, as it depends on the type of printer being used.
4.Click on a tab, button or selection box indicating "Color." Most options include high-quality color, grayscale and black cartridge only. Choosing grayscale will print the document using various shades of gray and other tones such as blue or green that match the actual hues in the document visible on the screen. A photo or picture that may look black or gray could actually have blue undertones. To print purely in black and white with no undertones, you must select either "black cartridge" or "black and white only."
5.Select "OK" to return to the Microsoft Word printer dialogue box. Press the "Print" button to print the black-and-white document.

I hope you find it very helpful. Thanks.

Hp printer 7450 won't print colored text from a word document. test page shows colors on the windows logo flag. changed the ink cartridge....color one that is....no help i will try to print something else...

It may be set for grayscale (black and white) in the print properties. Go into the print properties in Word and look for a color or black and white setting, either under Color Management or Advanced. Set it for color, and then print your color document.

I have a full black ink cartridge and no color cartridge and it won't print - black and white text.

In the Printer properties
There is an option like:
Print in color Print in Black and white (it may be different wording for different printers)
Change it to print in B&W
When you get your color cartridge remember to change it back to color - Normally it should be left in color.
hope this will work for you

Brandnew printer nwill not print colour

Hi super_um

Assuming you have already checked the color cartridge and ink

Type something in color and try to print
Do not use the Printer Icon, instead go through the menu bar and select print
On the the print dialog screen, click on the properties,
Under color: options: you will have options like the following:
Print in color
Print in B&W
Print in grayscale
(Depending on the Brand of the printer, the wording may be different)

Make sure you select "print in color" option and leave it like that always. On the other hand, if you select black, all the different colors will be printed in black or gray.
Hope this will work for you
Good luck

How to print in black and white only

Goto Control Panel > Printer and Faxes > Right Click > Printer Prefernces
(on your desired Printer)

A dialogue box will appear, now from here every printer got a bit different tabs.
Even though its too easy to find somthing like "color".
Under such tab you will find options like
  • Color Printing
  • Gray Scale
  • Black Ink Only
  • Toner Saver mode (For Lasers)
So select the Black & White option, and its done.

Why does the Samsung clp-510 color laser printer keeps defaulting to black and white print out when printing color images?

Well one thing you should do is when your printing something out before you print make sue that you have selected color not black and white because most printers have a default setting to use black and white. Also make sure that you have color ink available to print.

HP5600

You would need to go to your control panel, then printers, then right click on the HP5610 and then properties. Once there, you would need to look for the color setup screen. You should be able to choose something similar to: "print colors in black & white only". That is the only thing you can possibly change to force black & white printing. However, not every printer has this feature.
