Hotpoint ultima condenser dryer TC71 no longer heats up although the drum is still spinning OK.I have been told it could be the thermostat,

Kindest regards,

Liam.

Thermostats rarely go. You could have a bad heater or even a voltage problem. Even if the dryer runs, the voltage can still be wrong, it only needs 110 volts to start the motor but must have 220 to have heat.

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail(meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) thatmight need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can tripout or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehaveprograms that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcodeshowing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also bethe fault.

Drum wont move

Check the motor and the belt on the back of the unit behind the rear plate. Make sure that the belt is attached and the motor is spinning. If this helped please rate. Thank you

I have a hotpoint TC71 condense dryer and the stats are gone (as there is very little heat coming from the dryer) Which stat do I replace? The one on the right or the one on the left?

The stats come as a pair, so replace both of them ,even though only one has gone.
Make sure that all your filters are clean, and that all air vents are clean and clear..
This is a common cause of stat failure.
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.

Tumble dryer not drying

Either dryer element has failed, thermostat for drying or the drying condenser fan not working.

There are two heating elements and the top one is for drying.

Ultima Condensor Dryer

on the back of your dryer you have a heater behind the protruding panel... Either you heater element has gone, but most like the thermal cut outs have blown...these are located in the same area..they are small and round looking and are connected to them are wires either side. Anyways check the conitunity of the termal cut outs using a tester if no continuity then they are no good... hope it helps...
