Check the gasket. Sounds like you have a leak somewhere causing the ice formations on the bottom. Easy way to check this is to have a steamer or a small pot of boiling water (steaming hot) while the frezzer is runing hold the pot of steaming water and watch the steam. You will see the steam going into the frezzer. BINGO leaking gasket. May need to replace the gasket or may beable to fix. You will see and know what to do. Keep me posted. Good luck.

Top portion of whirlpool chest type freezer is cooling but bottom not cooling

Check t'stat setting . Adjust and if it doesn't correct it, then probably the t'stat is bad. If it 9-10 years old, then replace the freezer. This could be the beginning of the end.

Chest freezer not freezing on bottom

Sounds like a circulation problem. Does it have a fan inside the freezer. Should be bdhind the floor or one of the wall panels. There should be a vent for the air to circulat through. If so check to make sure it's running when the compressor runs.

Freezer stops and start

ice cream is always the last to freeze and a temp of minus -10 degrees is usually required to get it to get hard. if you put the ice cream in the door it will be especially tough to freeze. a good thermometor is a good investment as you can observe the temps. usually ten degrees or 20 degrees is what they run. yes they do cycle on and off as long as they hold temps thats good. the outside of the freezer gets warm because the hot compressed refrigerant is spread through piping near its surface giving up its heat of compression . setting the stat to max will freeze the ice cream eventually but utility bill suffers . good luck

We have a Chest type Freezer, Model is GLFC1526FW. A lot of ice build up near the top of the freezer. And the freezer lid is cold to the touch. And the bottom part of the freezer, no ice build-up. Is,...

yeah , the coil patern of most chest freezers run the evaperaton loop around the top of the freezer down about 6 to 8 inches to start the frost patern, knowing that cold air falls it then works down and cools the rest of the freezer and its contents hope this fixed your problem
