I plugged it in to charge and the red light came on. After some hours, I looked and the light was off. Now there's no way to either charge it or turn it on.

This is the same problem I'm having. I plug it in and the LED flashes red then green then off completely. It won't turn on and it doesn't appear to be charging.

worked great one day, now no lights and won't turn on.

I'm in the same boat. Just got the headset and don't know if it's charging or not. No LED indication whatsoever. I've tried difference wall sockets, the PC. Nothing.

This is the 2nd BT500 bluetooth that I have had that all of a sudden, inexpliciably, will not turn on even after lengthy charging. No light will come on when hooked up to charge.

  • Anonymous Mar 07, 2008

Apparently the saga continues. Have same experience as others have posted. Plug it in, LED quickly flashes from red to green, then off completely. After more than 4 hours of charging, no signs of a charged battery (LED not lit), and none of the switches seem to activate it. Compared the connection carefully with the manual diagram to ensure it's connected in the right direction, so I've ruled out that as the cause. No further clue as to what's wrong or how to correct it.

Same problem! Paid up for this one and still use my cheap H500 by Motorola simply because it works.

  • Anonymous Apr 27, 2008

Same. LED red to green to black.

I found info elsewhere that if you plug the ac adapter in wrong to headset it will fry the battery. The adapter is not very fool-proof.

Same problem! Flashes from red to greenand then "poof" nothing! I paid up for this model and I still go back to my Motorola H500 which I'm not thrilled with it's looseness onn my ear, hence the reason I bought this one. Now it's garbage!

Hello all...

I had this exact same problem, and had a couple hours on my hands to kill, so I opened up my headset. ***PLEASE NOTE - This WILL void your warranty*** Once the headset was open, I took a quick look around, and noticed that one of the leads that attach the rechargable battery to the little circuit board was not connected. Being somewhat handy, I was able to use my soldering iron to re-attach the lead from the battery to the PCB. I plugged the unit into the charger to verify, then carefully put everything back together. A little dab of superglue in the joint above the volume controls, and my headset now works great! Be careful when putting the unit back together, as the first time I re-assembled it, the lead came off, and I had to take it all apart and re-solder it. The circuit board will move out of the way slightly (pulls away from the case) in order to give a better angle to solder the lead. It does not fully detach though, so be careful. In total, it took about 30 minutes of my time, which is way cheaper than a new headset =)

I opened mine using a knife under the blue part, you CAREFULLY pry the blue off with it's adhesive, then you are left with two T6 torx screws, you remove those and careful not to lose the volume buttons. Then the main circuit board is all one piece and comes out easily.

Cheers.

I had a very similar problem. Your headset is most likely defective. Call Jabra at Jabra.com and they'll replace it for you if you still have the receipt where you bought it from.

Jabra BT500 won't power up

If you can try a different charger, try that. try charging with USB cable if not. Try your charger on another headset if you can. I think the charger is the problem. If no change every way, here is the link to the user manual if you need it; http://www.jabra.com/Sites/Jabra/NA-US/pages/SupportProduct.aspx?productid=3c063d26-e62b-4b4d-9613-c10134a79cf3 Page 7 has the toll-free tech helpline which is probably worth a check in case they have any ideas before opening it up. If still no luck, and you want to open it up, first thing to look for is the battery. check any connectors are on properly. try charging for a while and see if battery gets warm/hot/no change. See if there are any technical specifications or part numbers written on the battery and I can get more info to see if it can be checked and if it is worth replacing. If you have any trouble identifying the battery, try posting back a photo of the inside and we will see what we can do. Hope this helps :)

My Jabra BT500 is on mute. Callers can not hear me. It worked fine at first now nothing.

When powered up and in "talk" mode (during a call) hold the volume up and down "bumps" simultaneously. This engages/disengages the headset's mute function.... Hope this helps...

Bluetooth help

When you pair the bluetooth headset default passkey (PIN) should be used as "0000" (4 zeros). for further info you can check the user manual as I attached the link below

Unit won't charge and I get no lights

I have the same problem. it's due to a faulty pover-cell inside the headset. i have also read that the charger can be inserted the wrong way, this would in turn kill the battery by giving it a reverse charge.(not sure about that) as i tried this after finding the unit defective and it will only plug in one way.. the only suggestion that i can give is contact Jabra directly. iv'e read that they will replace any headset in this range for free, here is the address for their site. http://www.jabra.com/Sites/Jabra/UK-UK/pages/Contact.aspx Hope this helps.
