Question about Mitsubishi WS-55819 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubishi WS 55819 55" Rear Projection TV. Was moved. Prior to moving it was fine... After we moved it upstairs without any significant jostling, the TV now is not working. at first after turning it the display was working, but the image was very skittish, jumping around, it has degraded to no image and now shuts off after a minute or so. I was able to extract a code 23, meaning horizontal deflection bad... I have the service manual, but I see no reference to troubleshooting that issue. I suspect there is a wire or connection loose. When we moved the TV upstairs, we carefully removed the front speaker cover, and the fresnel lense frame to protect it and provide better grip. We had to carefully roll the TV over a hand rail and onto its top and then slide the TV up the stairs to the top. It was not dropped or jostled at all. Just an hour before I had completed a convergence alignment and watched a video to confirm all was working fine.

The roll over the rail is what killed it.

SOURCE: Convergence problem w/ red horizontal only-WS-65807

Do not try to adjust anything yet!! Adjustments do not get out of alighnment all of a suddenly. The convergence adjustments are there to do minor aging alighnments. I would first check for bad solder connections on the convergence IC's first.

the easiest way is 2 people carrying it but if you do have to slide it make sure you don't bump it cause if you do it will knock off the convergence

Good Day;

More than likely your TV has "COOLANT" (ethylene glycol) on the circuit boards. This fluid comes from the CRT's (picture tube) this fluid is used to keep the CRT's cool, such the name. This fluid from the CRT's leak when TV is on for long periods of time, the chamber expands and the seals leak.

One can remove this fluid by using "acetone" & small brush. The fluid is hard to see, use bright light, they spots can be smaller then a DIME. Also, the fluid can corrode the parts and traces on the boards. To protect the TV in future place heavy plastic or thick cardboard over affective area, make sure TV has proper air flow around TV.

If after the fluid has been removed and TV still does not work, call an Authorized Service Center to come out and repair TV after giving you an Written Estimate. The boards are not available.

Always try resetting the TV by unplugging it for one minute then plug back into A/C outlet and ALWAYS UNPLUG TV BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY REPAIR ON THE TV.

Good Luck, big IRISH.

Good morning, I am in the moving business and have a customer that wants me to move their large TV Mitsubishi medallion tv. She thinks is comes apart in two peices for easy moving and I need instructions...

If the model is a WS-65809 that sey doesnt come apart. Actually very few rear projection TVs can be seperated Some RCA TVs can be disassembled to several pieces. Also I would let customer know that because a CRT TV has three CRTs that are aligned to each other , Moving the TV will cause the convergence to be adjusted. Based on model it can be just pressing the auto convergence option with the remote, But older rear projection TVs (2003 and older) have been known to blow ICs after a move when trying to reset the convergence. The ICs weaken over age and they can blow anytime the convergence adjustment feature is used, so its always a good thing to let someone know that even if very careful when being moved there set may develop convergence issues after a move because its a 3 CRT rear projection TV

I just moved my 42in. Toshiba rear projectiom Tv from my basement to the upstairs and now my convergence is off. The red tube cross is low on the manual adjustment and will not go up to the other colors.IT...

It sounds like you jostled the red CRT gun when you moved the set. If the convergence adjustment still moves the red cross hair the the circuitry is okay. Your red gun needs to be realigned. This requires a service call unless you want to attempt it yourself. It is fairly involved and requires some specific tools as well as using the service mode on the remote to reset the convergence after the gun is repositioned.

My mitsubishi ws 55807 turns on alright but the blue, green and red color are on top of each other and makes every image look triple. This tv was a gift from a friend and we moved it a lot to take it...

You have a convergence problem, if it happened after you moved it around then its either broken solder joints around the convergence modules(stk392-110) or it is a physical problem.
You could take the front screen off and see if the mirror inside has shifted. Also take the front and rear covers and look inside for anything that might have moved or cracks near components mounted on heathsinks. hope this will help. Good luck

My xbox360 Wont work on my WS-55513 MITSUBISHI COMPONENT

Try changing the settings on the Xbox under display to 1080i. If it is 1080 p, or 720p, the image will look funny so make sure it is at 1080i.
