Fridge is whistling

My fridge (danby), makes a whistling sound. It is high pitched and very annoying Did replacing the fan motor help?

I have the same problem. The whistling noise doesnt bother me but my husband is very aggravated by it.

Was replacing the fan motor easy? How much was it approximately ?

Whirlpool tech at house last Wednesday. Said whistling noise was normal. Ha! Whirlpool tech states the whistling is due to the air in freezer being recycled into the refrigerator. Said it is part of the new high technology system to save energy.

I disagree with him, it is from poor design.

I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool. This unit was bought at Lowes on Jan 7, 2009.

I t also makes a high pitch whinning noisy, Wakes me up at night and keeps me awake, it is making me nervous and irritable.

If Lowes won't take it back, it gets the hatchet or will be kept in the garage. What a shame! SHAME ON WHIRLPOOL, CONSUMER DEFENSE IS TO PASS THE WORD AROUND AND ASK EVERYONE NOT TO BUY THEIR PRODUCTS TILL THEY ACKNOWLEDGE AND IMPROVE ON THEM.

I am a low income provider and my money has been wasted!

Why does my Rigid shop vac make a high pitched whistle with a long hose on it but not a short hose?

The high pitched whistle that you are hearing from your Rigid shop vac with a long hose may be due to several reasons. Here are some possible causes:
  1. Airflow restriction: When you use a longer hose with your shop vac, it increases the airflow resistance, which can cause a whistling noise. This is because the motor has to work harder to maintain suction, and the increased resistance can cause turbulence in the airflow, creating the whistling sound.
  2. Hose size: The size of the hose can also affect the whistling noise. A smaller diameter hose can increase airflow resistance, which can cause the same issue as a longer hose.
  3. Clogs or blockages: If there are clogs or blockages in the hose, this can also cause the whistling noise. Check the hose and attachments for any obstructions, and remove them if necessary.
  4. Vacuum motor issue: In some cases, the whistling noise may be due to a problem with the vacuum motor itself. This could be caused by a damaged impeller, a loose fan blade, or other issues with the motor.
To fix the issue, you can try the following:
  1. Shorten the hose: If possible, try using a shorter hose to see if the whistling noise goes away. A shorter hose will reduce the airflow resistance and may help to eliminate the noise.
  2. Check for blockages: Inspect the hose and attachments for any clogs or blockages. Remove any obstructions that you find.
  3. Clean or replace the filter: If the vacuum filter is dirty, this can cause airflow resistance and make the motor work harder, leading to the whistling noise. Clean or replace the filter as necessary.
  4. Check the vacuum motor: If none of the above solutions work, you may need to inspect the vacuum motor for any issues. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, you can take the shop vac to a professional for repair.

Sounds like air is shooting out when accelerating. Could this be an exhaust leak? Plugs, coils, hoses seem fine. Noise is coming from passenger side under engine sounds like.

yes could very well be an exhaust leak.but that should be kinda loud and annoying..also u could have a slight whistling sound coming from ur air intake hose coming from air cleaner box to ur intake or throttle body or ur air inlet goin to the motor. when the motor is accelerated it would produce a high pitch sound like a whistling .hope this can help

At high speeds, I here a high pitched squeal coming from the passenger side dashboard. Its like the wind is reflrcting off something and it makes this annoying sound. Can you help me figure this out.

I'd check the passenger side mirror first, make sure it is tight to the window frame, no gaps. It causes a wind noise or whistle. It could be from the outside of the truck, try to pin point. Does noise go away with either window down? Does noise get louder turning in one direction (wheel bearing)? Does it get worse then seem better (could be tire noise)? Eliminate fan motor, and radio. Does it get worse with vehicle speed or just engine speed?

NEW HIGH SPEED EVAPORATOR FAN MOTOR TOO LOUD Repair technician told me there were problems with the original evaporator motor and replaced it with a new high speed one. Now the fridge is too loud. Before...

It's the rotors making the noise not the motors! I replaced the motor, still made noise, I took off rotor blade sanded it down around each blade, no more high pitched hum!

Whistling noise while driving

If it is whistling while you rev your engine (while parked), then most likely there is a leak or hole in your air intake or vacuum hoses.

Facts:
1. Your car creates a vacuum to constantly receive air from the outside.

2. A whistling noise is created when air travels through a hole.

Check all air pressurized ducts for holes or leaks.
Check air intake system for holes or leaks.

Fridge is whistling

Mine was making a moaning, whistling noise coming from just above the ice maker. It happened when the fan speed changed. I learned on this site that the motherboard was probably defective.
Rather than go thru GE, we found a new one online for 66 bucks. I replaced it in about ten minutes and it's all fixed. Poor materials on the original, but this site was very helpful.
