You may need to upgrade to a higher wattage power supply, which would also help with the performance of your computer. Or try updating either your system bios or USB drivers.

If your not familiar with the insides of your cpu. You can purchase an external cd/dvd/rw drive and hook it up. usually with a usb or supplied cable. To install depending on type and brand just follow the instruction that come with it. They do work very well.

make sure there is no floppy disk in the floppy drive...if not this means your hard drive is not being seen or hard drive has crashed. If that is the case, find a local reputable repair place...Call HP (owns Compaq brand) for a local authorized service center.
