I am setting up HO trains using new Bachmann ez track. I am using an older non-modular transformer. Do I connect the turnouts to AC or DC on the transformer?

some have the knob in a central position so that one way is forward and faster or the other way is reverse and faster

get a meeter and check the volts on the line both ways,,,there DC volts both should read the same near as can be,,,,if volts are the same both ways on the lines,,, its the trains motor,,,,
Had the same problem. The loco would buzz, but no movement. Took the loco & controller to my local hobby shop for testing. Found out my loco was fine, but the controller had shorted out. Swapped it out & it's all good.
