SOURCE: Coffee beans will not grind
If the grinder is blocked try changing the grinder setting up to the coarsest setting (I think it is numbered 16 on this model) and then vacuum or fill with beans and push them through. Be sure that any damp coffee has gone as you don't want the grinder blades to be left wet.
Never freeze or refrigerate your coffee beans as the condensation from doing this can also block your grinder. Also never use coffees that have been flavoured during the roasting process as they are often too sticky or oily and will block your grinder. These coffees should be ground using a grinder that can be easily pulled apart for cleaning...which is not the case in the Saeco automatic machines.
After you have finished clearing your grinder you will want to turn it back down to a finer setting ( a setting of 6 or 7 works well on this model) however you should only turn the grinder setting finer while the machine is actaully grinding. Otherwise you may find the coffee beans jam between the blades.
If you are unable to clear the blockage it might need to go to a technician.
SOURCE: How do I remove the
This is not a hard procedure, but you have to feel comfortable with DIY projects.
First empty the bean container. Vacuum out any remaining beans. Remove the philips screws from the hopper. Lift the hopper off. Vacuum any loose beans out. Remove the rubber gasket. You may clean this with a mild soap solution. Remove the grind adjustment lever- lift straight up with index fingers under the flange. Turn the outer ring with the holes counterclockwise, lift the center ring with the ears straight up when the outer ring is loose enough. The ring with the ears is the upper burr. Clean with a brush. Don't use water or other solutions. Vacuum the beans chamber and brush clean. Replace the upper burr ring matching the ears with the grooves. Turn the outer ring clockwise until it stops. Pull the inner ring to be sure it is locked. Now turn the outer ring back 13 clicks. Replace the rubber gasket. Replace the grinder adjustment lever- drop the lever flange inside on the outer ring with the lever grip loop over the top at #4. Press the flange with two fingers while supporting the outer ring from below. This seems tricky, but be patient. Replace the hopper and screws. Do any grinder adjustments while grinder is running with beans, it may take a few shots to be back at your preference grind! Good luck!
Relax and be patient, problem is evident and it can be solved. you
will need one key for releasing oil filters(borrow from your mechanic but it is good to be 3 legged one)
