SOURCE: raising the handlebars

If your bike is older it might have a quill stem.To raise this you have to undo the allen key headed bolt situated where the bar & stem attach to the bike.It is often obscured by a plastic plug to prevent water rusting the bolt head.If this doesn't go high enough an adjustable quill stem must be fitted.
If you have the modern design of stem(A-head)you will have to replace the stem with an adjustable type which can be set upto 60 degrees.

Usually there is a hex bolt or some kind of bolt in the handlebar stem.
Loosen the bolt 4-5-6 turns.
Bolt will move upward.
Then hit bolt down with wrench.
Handlebars should be loose.
Raise handlebars to position.
Hold bolt upward with fingers while tightening.

Getting Riser Bars or simply flipping the stem over or getting one with a different rise and reach might give you the added height you need. If you LIKE the handlebars, the stem is the best option as most new ones come with front loaders (detachable front caps) that allow replacement without stripping components off one side of the handlebar. In minutes a Bicycle Shop could swap any number of them onto your bike for you to try.

SOURCE: Raise handlebars up 1"

Yeah, you'll most likely need to get a new stem with the rise. You can also get handlebars that have a rise to them. If your steering tube has space you can add some spacers under the stem but that seems pretty uncommon for a bike shop to assemble a bike with excess spacers on top of the stem.

SOURCE: raise handlebars

There is a bolt on the top of the goose neck that hold the handlebars in place. It should be a 1/2 inch, some are metric so just find the right size. Loosen this bolt about a half inch to an inch. It will be sticking up out of the neck. Tap it in with a hammer, it will go loose. Now just raise the handle bars where you want them and re tighten the bolt.

Raising handlebars

There is a single central connection to the handlebars This is called the "gooseneck". (Ther handlebars slide through the goosenect and then the gooseneck is tightened to hold the handlebars. The connector to tighten is in the front (so you do not get "injured" if you have a collison). Loosten the connector (it may be allen, or perhaps hex nut.). Raise or adjust the handlebars, then tighten. Make sure it is really tight (do not strip the threads). The handlebar has serrations to lock on to the gooseneck so the handlebar - gooseneck bolt will have to be loosened quite a bit to allow the serrations to "jump" to the next serration.

unfortunately, your bike uses a threadless stem. meaning you cannot raise it, you must replace it with an adjustable one, or get a stem with a steeper angle.

How do you raise the handlebars

There's a ring nut between the stem of the handlebars (The stem is the vertical part of the handlebars) and the frame of the bike where the handlebars connect into the frame. The handlebar stem goes down through the ring nut into the frame.

Loosen the ring nut and you'll be able to raise the handlebars. There's a mark on the handlebar stem which indicates the highest point that the handlebars can be raised to. If you raise it above this there won't be enough of it in the frame and this can cause the stem to break when pressure comes on it. Also when tightening the ring nut up again make sure you have the handlebars and front wheel lined up.

How do u raise handlebar heigth on f400 bycycle

There are only a few ways to raise the height of your handlebars (the actual grip portion you hold onto)

1) - Raise the stem. How this is done is determined by what type of stem you have.
A. If the stem is inserted via a shaft into the frame, then you must loosen the bolt in the center of the shaft to raise and lower the stem. This has limitations (a line on the end of the inserted portion of stem) you can not go past the max insertion line. If you need it higher, then you need a new stem that allows for more height.
B. If the stem clamps around the fork steerer, then you can only raise the stem as high as the end of the fork. In some cases you can invert the stem for greater height. If you need greater height, then you will have to replace the stem with one that has greater angle.

2) - Replace the handlebars with ones that place the grips higher relative to where the bars clamp to the stem.

In all cases this would be a good project to take into your local bike shop, show them what you have and ask them for the best solution to raising your handlebars.

Things to keep in mind: When you raise the handlebars you increase the distance from the controls to the brakes and derailleurs. If you want to raise past a certain point you will need to replace your cables and housings as they will need to be longer.

DO NOT RAISE ANYTHING ABOVE THE LIMIT LINES: This will cause the bike to be unsafe and could fail causing a serious injury or worse.
