You can disable the mouse pad or even adjust the sensitivity of the pointer by going this way

click start > control panel > hardware and sound > mouse > adjust the speed or disable touchpad

I have a Compaq Presario CQ62. When typing anywhere, the cursor randomly jumps to another spot in the text and continue inserting text there. How do I correct this?

This typically happens when the typist's palms touch the touchpad, which the pad treats as a mouse click. See if the cursor is jumping to where the pointer is.
Most touchpads have a control panel (usually part of the MOUSE Control Panel) where you can reduce the sensitivity (or disable) the left click function from tapping the touchpad.

Orange light appears on touchboard and a circle with a line through shows up on screen and touchboard wont work

It means that you locked your mouse pad all you have to do is tap the left corner (where the orange light is) twice. THis unlocks it and locks it

The lcd had a half-inch line from the start menu bar. it bothers me from reading any file. do i need to call the service center for the check-up? thanks

You may have expanded you menu bar inadvertently. Place cursor over the top edge of bar, left lick mouse or track pad and slide cursor down, bar size should be reduced. Good luck

Mouse cursor moving by itself

In windows xp go into start menu, then into control panel then click on appearance and themes, then move your mouse over to mouse pointers click on it , uncheck "enhance pointer precision, and click apply, that will stop the mouse from acting crazy, this will work with dell mouse pointers and most.

Mouse cursor moving by itself

i have latitude c610 and same problem happens with me too. i think that happens when i finish my brakfat and without cleaning my hands start using the touch pad. what happens according to me is that small particles of food(eg bread/dust particles) stuck in the corners or the body wall where the touch pad ends and keeps pressing the touchpad, thus causing the mouse to move to one direction. when i clean the corners and sides of the touchpad, it starts working ok !!

thanks

Cursor stuck in middle of screen

If you are using an external mouse, unplug it and see if it will go with the pad.If it works with the pad then its the exteranal mouse.
If you are using the pad you may have to replace the pad or recalibrate it using the pointer device, you can use the tab key to go through to the start menu then use the arrow keys to go to control panel.
Hope this helps
