sounds like a voltage regulator to me. the speaker would not have anything to do with the transmit, the receive yes but, with no transmit or receive try the voltage regulator number on it will be ta7217 it will have roughly 10 legs on it and it will be attached to a heat sink or the chassis of the radio. also you might look at where the antenna wire connector screws on to the radio, on the inside of the radio on the back of the connector there should be a wire coming from the back of the plug and connecting to the circuit board , it could have came loose. Good luck.

SOURCE: cobra 29ltd cb radio

Hi,

A couple of suggestions:
1. verify that the RF Gain is maximum clockwise;
2. verify that the ANL or noise limiter is OFF;
3. pls add a ground strap from the body of the Cobra 29LTD to the chassis/GND of the vehicle or to your house GND connection;
4. Verify that your Wilson 5000 has a sufficient ground plane such as roof or metal objects.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Have Cobra 29 LTD CB

Sounds like the PLL circuit....... no channel synthesizer will kill the transmit and receive...... bad crystal or IC could be at fault or if someone has attempted to add more channels could also be cause.

Cb radio locked up in transmit mode and screen shows cb error

Just check any transmit buttons, or switches first. If that is ok, then the problem is in the radio, and must be fixed by a qualified technition.
There is no simple fix for this im afraid. The radio needs to be removed, and serviced.
You could try and disconect your battery for about 5 mins, this should clear any computer error's, and reset things, this may fix your problem.
