My Delonghi Magnifica 3400 has a problme with the front access door popping open when power up, brewing and powering down. Are there any suggested fixes for this issue? Also, is there anyway to make the brew temperature hotter?

Our ESAM3300 has the annoying habit of popping open the front access door during coffee making and rinsing operations. Closing resumes normal operation. Can't see any cause with the latch.

My Delonghi Magnifica door was popping open too when the machine would cycle on or off. I found that the shoot on the inside of the door was stuck. This chute is spring loaded. The chute guides the coffee from the diffuser to the dispenser ports. I think it must have been coffee build up on the back side of the chute making it stick. So when the diffuser passed by during cycling the chute would not move out of the way. This makes the door pop open. I cleaned the chute so that it moves freely and no more trouble.

This was extremely helpful! My door hasn't been closing for months and simply cleaning the build up behind the tray was the trick and now my door closes nicely! Thanks!!

    many thanks - it worked!!

That worked! I have a newer model. I first totally cleaned all but the chute and the door immediately popped open again. I read this suggestion and found my chute to be 'sticky' - it would move but not was definitely not 'free'. I used some Q-tips to make the chute become 'no longer sticky' and, for now, no more door popping open!! Thx!!

If the diffusor isn't suffering from built-up coffee grinds (in which case give it a good cleaning first), then check the backplane that holds the diffusor: it has two hex head screws that have probably come loose. Remove the diffusor to expose the screws, tighten them down, and the problem should be fixed. Total repair time should be under 30 seconds.

Perfect! They were really loose and tightening them did the trip! Thank you so much.

That was happening on my machine and I discovered that there was some dried coffee grinds preventing the drip tray from being fully inserted. It was hard to see with overhead light but easy to see with a flashlight. I used a kitchen knife to scrape it out and vacuumed it up. After that the door closed fine and would not pop open.

Thank you! My machine did indeed have excess grounds in that area. Problem fixed.

I've experienced that same thing and solved it the same way.

There is only a small amount of resistance on the access door hooks. Even on a new machine you can pull the door open without using the "unlatch" tab. Don't know of a fix other than wedging a small shim along side the door, not very professional.
The temp of your pull can be adjusted through the menu. Set up is in the manual.

Delonghi magnifica door won't stay shut

I had this problem. The door didn't snap when I shut it and it would pop open and stop the brewing. It was an easy 5 minute fix.

I removed the drip tray and the black plastic bin where the spent coffee grounds are expelled. With a flashlight I could clearly see 1/4" to 1/2" caked coffee grinds lining the back of the cabinet at its base. This residue kept the bin from seating correctly. Because the bin wasn't all the way back into the cabinet it put pressure on the door and kept it from latching. I cleaned out the buildup with a small spatula and a brush and the door latched perfectly again.

Delonghi magnifica door won't stay shut

Could be the brew unit pushing the door open because there’s a coffee build up in the spring loaded chute that directs coffee from the brew unit to the outlet. Result is that the chute is jammed.

Needs cleaning. Might need disassembly. Be prepared to throw up. Mine was moldy.

Hi the door keeps popping open on my perfecta coffee machine?

I have a DeLonghi Magnifica machine and had a similar problem where the door would pop open itself during the brew cycle. I figured out that there is a movable funnel on the inside of the door (part Z in my manual called a mobile drawer) that was sticking and needed to be cleaned. I had to remove two screws on the top of the door to remove this assembly, then soak it in water to loosen up the coffee deposits. After a thorough cleaning the mobile drawer no longer sticks and the door no longer opens by itself.

Be careful to make sure that you do not lose the little spring mechanism that keeps the mobile drawer in the correct place. I took pictures to make sure I knew how to put the unit back together again. Best of luck.

Delonghi Magnifica Makes creaking noise when preparing brew unit

These machines do need to be lubricated every so often. First, buy some food safe lubricant, e.g. here. Then, turn the machine off, open the front door, and remove the infuser. There is a holder connected to the machine by two hex screws. You may remove this (or even just leave it on). Now attach a long tube to the lubricant (should come with the can) and spray lubricant on both sides of the vertical screw that moves the infuser up and down. Give it a few good sprays on both sides of the screw, up and down, and that should solve your problem.
