How do I fill the freon in my ge 15" ice maker

Where do I get equipment for filling the freon? where is the input point for the freon? how do I test the freon pressure?

If you purchase a new compressor, does that include the refrigerant? I own an 18" icemaker that will not create a cold enough evaporator plate. I cleaned the condenser and the fan is blowing just fine. So, I'm down to a low charge or a bad compressor. I am stuck on which way to go... Does a new compressor save both issues? Where is the refrigerant "stored"?

I could write a book on this subject and how many times people request it. I will try to briefly educate you. It is against the law to add freon to a refrigerator unless it is a one time only for diagnostic purposes. Freon never loses its ability to do what it is designed to do. If it leaks out, there is a reason, a leak, which must be found and repaired or the failed component must be replaced. Loss of refrigerant, or freon, is the last thing that we suspect when a refrigerator won't cool properly. 99 out of 100 times, it is the defrost system or air flow that causes problems. The refrigeration system is "sealed" which means it is designed so that it will never leak or need to be "recharged". There are very strict laws and heavy fines involved should you be caught releasing refrigerant into the air be it by a leak that you do not repair and you just "patch" by adding freon, or be it by an intentional release into the air. In our state one must be liscened and hold a certificate to handle. buy, or work with "freon".

GZ25FSRXYY2 ice maker not filling up or dispensing

Take a look at this service manual for that ice maker. There is a section that has test points for you to diagnose the trouble.

Ge refrigeration model 20-25 icemaker not making ice

Fill ice maker with tap water and allow the water to freeze. If when the ice maker cycles and drops ice into ice bin it chooses not to refill with water at end of the cycle. That would point to the dual water control valve. If ice maker does nothing when filled with tap water that will indicate a defective ice maker. The model number you listed does not appear to be correct. Look around the fresh food section door frame and see what you have. This could be the ice maker or the dual water control valve causing this problem. Thanks Sea Breeze

Water not filling ice maker

The Fill tube for the Ice Maker may be froze. There is a tube that runs up the back wall of your fridge and enters the cabinet through a hole right behind the ice maker. If you look at the ice machine inside your freezer you will notice a tube entering it from the rear wall. This is the tube I'm talking about. Inspect the tube carefully with a flashlight to see if it's blocked with ice.

Look at page 15 of this manual for the ice maker test points and diagnostics. I think this is the same ice maker that unit has in it.

I have a GE Profile fridge PSS25MGNAWW with an ice maker that is not working properly. The ice maker doesnt fill with water. If I turn the ice maker off then back on it will squirt water in for about...

HI this is just a test the icemaker runs when you first turn it on, its not suppose to fill up the tray, it will fill it when the icemaker reaches the correct temperature, if its not cold enough in the freezer it wont kick on, if its been sitting for several hours and still wont fill or make ice, you need a new icemaker. The new icemaker part # is WR30X10093

GE GSH25JSTASS water and ice maker not working

I had the same problem.

I found that the inlet tube was frozen over as was the drain on the reservoir that fills the ice tray. Clearing the ice build up did not fix the problem. I also noticed that the ice maker seemed to be half filled.

I found that the valve is working by wiring a line cord directly to the valve. This caused the ice maker to fill (overfill actually since there was no sensor to turn it off).

Allowing the ice maker to cycle now that if was filled has solved the problem. The only thing I can think of was a power failure or manually turning off the ice maker while it was filling.

If you are capable of manually testing the inlet valve as above and it does not fill the ice maker, then the valve is defective. Cost is below $50 as this posting. Part number is AP3192626.

If the valve works and it is not a partial fill problem as was mine, then the problem is with the main circuit board on the back of the fridge. The part number is AP4436216 and ranges from $122to $140 as of this posting date.

Refrigerator cannot produce ice

First you need to list the model number of your GE to get correct answers. The problem is either you water control valve or the ice maker itself. If filling the ice maker with tap water and it freezes and dumps without the ice maker refilling then I would point to water control valve for the ice maker side and if the ice maker when filled does nothing the the ice maker is defective. Thanks, Merry Christmas, Sea Breeze

Ice maker in our GE profile refrigerator is not working

Ice maker Diagnostic Test:

- Remove the ice bucket
-Turn the ice maker off, wait 15 seconds than turn it back on
-Press the ice paddle three times, this will begin diagnostic test.
-PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH ICE MAKER DURING DIAGNOSTICS

-In 3 minutes you should see the rack inside turn 360 degrees
-AND the ice maker bowl should fill with water

-IF either DID NOT work, call 1-800-GE-CARES for ice maker replacement. A service call is approx $80. The $80 will be deducted from the part/labor if you choose to purchase/install parts from the service technician. If not, you will pay for the service call. Good luck.

My ge icemaker will not fill with water. if i fill the tray it will freeze and empty. cold water will dispense.

The refrigerator has a duel water valve, one for the ice-maker and one for the water dispenser (if equipped). The valve that the ice-maker relies on may be bad, or it could be the ice-maker itself.
Another thing that could cause it would be the temperatures in the freezer. The ice-maker will not call for water until it reaches under 15 degrees. In addition, check the water tube behind the ice-maker to make sure it is not frozen, blocking more water from entering. The water does not go to the ice-maker or thru the filter unless the ice-maker turns on the water valve.

if you already checked this and think it is a different problem then let me know, i will help you figure it out.
