Question about LG 24 in. LD-12BW5 Free-standing Dishwasher
I have a LG-14AW2 which displays the E1 code - sometimes immediately it has filled up and at other times later in the rinse cycle. I have taken the machine apart and there seems to be no leaking (as suggested in the handbook). Other suggestions from this site focus on the motor / impeller, but on closer inspection there appears to be no problem, i.e. no broken shaft, all the impeller vanes are intact. Any other suggestions?
I have this sometimes where E1 is reported and the pump remains on. The following voodoo has worked for me.
1) Make sure there is not a real drain problem.
2) Cancel any cycle or turn the power button off then on.
3) Run a rinse cycle (15 minutes).
4) If pump continues to run, turn off the power to the dishwasher, let stand for a minute, then repeat steps 2-3. If still not working, leave power off over night and leave the door open then try again.
In each iteration, it is important to curse your LG product and/or threaten it with replacement.

Just throw it away and never by LG again. I spend $400 on repairs and still shows E1 message. Wasted money and angry cursing wife.

If it is a 240V machine, you need Wash Pump (5859DD9001A)
I had the same problem, machine would pump out, fill & then run the wash pum & stop at about 1:37 with an E1 error.
The impeller on the pump has come loose on the motor shaft so when the motor runs, the shaft spins inside the impeller & it won't pump the water around.
The machine will fill & empty OK.
I'm in Australia & I was able to get the pump online from the BigWarehouse spares.

I ended up pulling the front door and found a gray wire that was broken. It was in the bottom of the door where there is a plastic harness that wraps around the bottom of the door. I had to disassemble the plastic harness to get enough wire to solder it. The washer was good to go after replacing the door. My only advice is to look long and hard for a broken wire, it wasn't obvious as it was behind the harness.

Check the wires in the door panel, the inner door panel gets hot from the hot water and causes wires to melt into ins. coating and they brake. Simply repair wire and wrap with tape.

I solved this issue by going under my sink and pushing the hose more into the hole leading to the dishwasher. I can’t believe this small step was the solution, but it was. Thanks!

I've got an LG D1452LF dishwasher that I bought in 2013 - already had to replace the drainage pump (18-months ago) just out of the 2-year machine warranty and specific part not covered by the 10-year motor warranty, naturally. Been working fine but couple of days ago it got an E1 error. Switching off and then back on goes straight back to E1 - don't even need to press the power button. Drainage pump is still working as it runs continually while the E1 message is displayed and it is pumping water out. I removed the bottom front panel to take a peep underneath and discovered the bottom tray where all the electrical bits, pumps and hoses are had quite a bit of water in it. This is obviously triggering the E1 water leak alarm. I've tried sopping up the water as much as I can but still the E1 alarm persists. Called the LG repair company who charge a call-out fee to attend - their suggestion is to replace the entire sump assembly as everything is wet. Part of the 10-year warranty apparently. So parts are ordered, to be installed next week - just have to break-out the inlet hose that goes through the masonry wall so the unit can be removed for the repair. Fingers crossed it gets sorted with no additional cost to me.

Whenever I have issues with my dishwasher I just call an appliance repair place. Mine broke down eight years ago and I tried to fix it myself. Long story short, I made the issue worse and now I'd rather be safe than sorry. Cosmos Appliance Service Proudly Serving Langley the Surrounding Area

My LG would start a cycle by pumping out, then filling up, stand for a while and then give the E1 error followed by pumping the water out. I couldn't see anything wrong at first. Took it apart and took out the circulating pump. I took the plastic housing and impeller off from the motor and found that I could not turn the motor shaft by hand. Opend it up and replaced the front bearing (R25, about 3$). Put everything together and it workes perfectly!!

I had a repairman come and he told me that LG has had problems with the intake valve pump on some of the dishwashers but not enough for them to warrant a recall. Therefore it cost me $146.00 in labor (since my warranty on labor just expired) to fix a problem that LG should have taken care of. He also replaced the circuit board since it was still under warranty which makes me wonder if that isn't also an issue with these dishwashers. All I know is that when the parts are out of warranty and something goes wrong I'm going to junk this piece of @##!@#!!.
