I have an eight-LED, aluminum-case, two AA-battery flashlight. I do not know the brand name. It was presented to me as a Christmas gift over a year ago. I only know that it was purchased at a Boscov's departmet store. During the period I have owned it, it has worked fine. However, a few weeks ago, I discovered that the original batteries that came with the flashlight had gone dead and had leaked acid inside the flashlight. I cleaned out the flashlight, put in new alkaline batteries, checked that it was working okay, turned it off and put it back in its storage place. About a week later I tried using the flashlight only to find that the batteries were drained.
I replaced the battteries again, checked again that it was working okay, and put it back in its storage spot. This time I made sure that the LED lights were not on. Moreover, I checked it again the next day, plus I used my Radio Shack Pocket Battery Tester to check the charge on the batteries. I found it acting ''flaky'' and the battery tester showed that the batteries were almost completely drained -- just from sitting in the flashight overnight!
Why is this fashlight suddenly draining the new batteries that I put in it?
This particular flashlight uses a microchip that consumes the power of the batteries, whether in use or not. Loosen the case to where the batteries go in, so there is no contact with polarity. Or just take the batteries out completely and replace them for actual use.

95-112B - Stanley Tripod Flashlight battery replacement is in the center chamber. Open the three legs, then put your fingers around the bottom part of the center chamber and turn counter-clock wise. Wella put in 3 new AA Batteries.
you dont have to spend alot of money on led flashlights. they range from 1$ to well over 100$, In my experience and back ground. I prefer to keep several less costly ones than to spend way to much money on high dollar lights. befofe led i cant count how many mag lights i purchased or how many were lost, borrowed or stolen it depends on what your looking for and what options you want. i like to have several 1 to 2$ ones. and some that have features like position switch. for 1 led .3led or all led lamps working. or lights that have a spot light on the end and cluster leds on the side for area lighting, in my personal opinion if your going to hang on to it you cant beat a 4 or 5 D size mag light. take in to consideration they have led models now and also led conv. kits available for ones that have bulbs in them. but note you cannot focus your beam as wellwith led on mag lights. any way the main problem i sure you and any one who has owned small aluminum led flshlights has delt with the flickering hiting them and unscrewing the ends twisting back and forth to get the light to come back when you need it most. easy cure aluminum sucks as an electrical conductor. dielectric grease is your best friend. anywhere you have any connections such as the threads on the alum. flashlights. Also very important general purpose elect. conn. ac or dc and absoloutly if you own a boat please remember any elect. conn. and most important when you connect different types metals copper, lead,brass alluminum,tin galvanize,stainless,gold they all will fail lead to corrosion and or lose conductivity.and lead to damaging or ruining minor or major equipt. remember if your repairing boat wiring for instance and possibly replacing damaged equipt. having correct guage wire correct fuses for what amperage a curcuit or piece of equipt. needs. If you have corrosion at the end of your wire terminals and your fuses and fuse blocks. it will fail......so if its a flshight , acar or boat motor .airplane ect battery, if it conducts electricity clean it ,use dielectric, not wheel grease dielectric grease it conducts electricity. and try this on your inexpensive aluminium led lights. dollar store led flashlights work fine or any where you see them on sale. if they come with batterys most likely dispose of them. dont skimp on batterys. all quality batterys have a shelf life of several years. on sale aa and aaa i look for duracells or equivelent in 24,36 or 48 packs. i allways have some with me and share them with people in need. and thats another reason i keep a few cheap flashlights with me . even when i riding my HD Road King a simple flashight given to someone on the side of the road can be the gift at tjhat time that they will never forget. i apoligize for rambling . but im not typing im just talking . the typing is being prefom by dear friend xxxxxxxx I think I am .more than a dear friend and if you keep your hands and mouth off of me for a little while. The unit is 3 individual flash lights. Pull one of the flashlights by the head (the light part) it will come out easily once you know what you are doing. The other two may be pulled out in the same manner. The bottom will then unscrew where you will be able to replace the AA batteries. Each flashlight will then go back into place very easily. Hint...test each individual flashlight before putting back together to make sure you have your batteries in the proper place and that they are useable batteries.
If its the one I have ... A battery may have failed and leaked causing it and the battery unit to become stuck. I pulled off the top of mine and pulled out the LED assembly and banged it on the bench a few times and it popped out and I cleaned it up with some baking soda and water.
