If they are metal shavings you have a bad gear in the motor head. needs tear down and new gears. YouTube video will show you how to do it easier than I can write it. If you don't find it let me know I can point you to it or walk you through it. Going to cost around 70 dollars

Kitchenaid professional hd mixer does not turn on

Check that the motor brushes are not worn out. Under the black screw caps one each side of the motor. Note that the brushes have one corner shaved off, they only fit properly one way.
Remove the back cover (one screw at the top) and check for a broken or fallen off wire. If that doesn't solve it then you are going to need a multi meter and start testing for a break in the circuit.

Kitchenaid mixer Professional HD 475 watt, unknown model number. Power switch goes straight to a higher speed in the STIR setting. Need to figure out model to find parts.

The Service Manual for this model (yes, it covers the 5 qt. model as well) can be found at: http://ep.yimg.com/ty/cdn/mendingshed/kitchenaid6qtservicemanual.pdf

How to fix a Kitchenaid Professional HD Stand Mixer?

Remove the top cover, screws are under the metal trim band with the writing on it. Get a multi meter and follow the power. Where the power stops is a good place to start looking. I think the electric internals consist of a PCB complete and a motor complete. If the motor has a circuit and both field windings are even resistance then you are probably looking at a pcb replacement unless you are an electronics whizz. There may also be an interference suppressor across the mains power supply in some countries, unlikely that will stop it though. Certainly look for any unplugged or broken connections inside from mains cable to pcb.

Planetary still rotates, but looks like shavings are coming out onto top of beater

shavings always indicate bad gears inside and require gear parts to be replaced. what model number is your machine?

Motor clicks every turn

The clicking is probably a small nick in one of the gears, even the smallest chip can cause alot of noise or make the mixer click. Is the beater shaft still turning when you have a load in the mixer (bowl is full)
Or is it just clicking?

If the beater stops turning it is going to be caused by stripped gears, however if it is just clicking this would indicate just a nick in the gear. Either way I would recommend opening the mixer and replacing the damaged gear/gears.

Your mixer is considered a 5 Quart Professional, which means it has the same parts as a KitchenAid 6 quart mixer. The first thing you will want to do is take the mixer apart and disassemble the gearing. You will want to clean off the gears with paper towels and wd-40. Carefully inspect each gear once clean and replace damaged gears.

In the professional mixers when a gear strips you need to replace the grease and housing gasket, this is because the gears are all metal and there may be metal shavings in the grease which could cause the gears to strip again.

The most common gear to go bad in the Professional series mixers is the Worm Follower Gear (9706529). Here is a link to that gear on our website: http://www.mendingshed.com/wormfollower.html

Also, here is a link to the service manual for the mixer, this will aid you in taking the mixer apart and putting it back together correctly. http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/mendingshed/kitchenaid6qtservicemanual.pdf

I need a replacement motor on a KitchenAid Professional HD Stand Mixer (Model KG25H7XSL).

The loud pop was probably the soft start circuit board on the motor. You can buy this board at repair sites or Ebay. And yes, they make 220V versions of this mixer.

My kitchenAid stand mixer is leaking oil. How do I

referring to:

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%204176924.pdf

You can see that there are 5 screws holding the upper and lower gearcase together. They pinch the gasket number 26 together and prevent the oil and grease from leaking. Remove the chrome ring by prying gently around the ring. You will see the 5 screw heads. Tighten them and the leaking will stop.

If it still leaks then you may have to replace the fiber washers number 29 which will involve disassembling the lower gear case.

Kitchenaid 350 stand mixer power problems

I'd check the brushes. The big black screws on the side of the motor casing, easily removed, but becareful when you put them back. Here were some instructions from another site that helped me get them back in right:
The brushes in my model KP50PSBU must be insert in a particular manner in order for it to work correctly. If you remove the brushes and shine a flashlight into the hole, you should see a small detent or "stop" in one corner of the hole. Its a square hole. Match this corner with the corner of the brush which is shaved off. The brush is not square; it has one corner shaved or smoothed down. This allows the brush to fully extend into the hole. If the brush is inserted any other way, it will not contact the motor and will not run.
