Question about Whirlpool Freezers

1 Answer

We do not use the freezer on our Whirlpool fridge freezer. It has recently started to turn itself on, thus the alarm sounds as the freezer is not down to temperature. This tends to happen in the middle of the night meaning we have to go down and switch it off again. This can happen two or three times a night!

The freezer is where the cold air is generated. It knows that is not logical to turn off the fresh food side so it determines that it needs the cold from the freezer side, so it over rides the error and will attempt to start. Turn your freezer on to a mid way setting ans give it a few hours to comply.

If you just purchased the freezer 3 weeks ago, I would be calling the store and or the manufacturer, and have them send out a service man to fix it or replace it.

Both Lights flashing and fridge not getting cold

I turned the fridge and freezer off using the circular dials, I then turned the unit off at the mains. Left it for a few minutes and then turned the power back on. I then turned the circular dials to "max" and then depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons to turn this facility on. This time they came on normally (not flashing) and no alarm sounded. The fridge and freezer then started to get cold. Once the unit had been running for several hours I then turned the dials to the 3/4 mark and depressed the super cool and super freeze buttons again to turn them off. Over night the fridge and the freezer appear to be working properly so I hope that my problem is solved. Maybe the unit just needed to "settle" before being switched on?

I have a Whirlpool side by side fridge freezer (brand new only 2 days old) the alarm is going off and the two lines side by side on the freezer side are flashing?

The alarm is set off when the freezer is out of the differential range of the setpoint. In other words, the freezer is still too warm. If you press the alarm button, the sound will stop but the light will stay on. If the unit is working correctly and cooling properly, this light should go out once the cabinet temperature gets close to the setpoint temperature. Hope this helps you.

ARISTON FRIDGE FREEZER MBA 3842C PROBLEM

It should work the same as before. Does the compressor get really hot after running a while? If so it could be low on charge, or there could be a restriction inside the refrigeration system. Either way a professional would have to look at it.
