Vtec 7100 won't connect to skype

I use skype with headset but also have the voip skype phone that I have not used with this version of skype...it used to work fine when I used it a couple of years ago on skype and still works fine as a regular phone. When I select the left button for voip...it says no voip client clients running.

1. Unplug and re-plug the usb cable from the base station to your Skype computer.

2. Make sure Skype is running.

3. Re-install the vtech software (you can download it at http://www.vtechphones.com if you need to)

4. When Skype asks if it's ok to let it connect, do that.

Is there any way to use the vtech 7100 with the latest SKYPE? Vtech support says they no longer support the 7100 because it is old. What a nasty way to treat customers.

I found a few people online with a similar problem. Here is the best answer I found from someone else:

"The latest Skype update made my Vtech USB7100 phone unable to recognize Skype. Vtech has no updates for the phone software, so I had to uninstall Skype 5.xxx and look for an older 4.xxx version. When I downloaded and installed, my phone was back in an instant. Hope this helps someone!"

I have had skype and the vtech usb 7100 for 5 years now and they have always worked great. However this week the vtech usb 7100 phone is not working anymore. I check the "connectivity" pannel...

you might need to update the driver or reinstall it
here is a general look at the drivers and how to update them
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver

When i talk using my belkin wifi skype phone i can here the other person but they cant here me well.

I think you need to have a look at your connection and see if it can handle VOIP traffic.

It sounds like you are downloading okay but your upload isn't good enough.

Run the tests at Dr-VOIP and it will tell you where you connection is falling down and you can either contact your ISP to have them investigate the problem or think about having your internet connection upgraded.

Did you try using a different headset just to check if the probem is with your headset or wuth the skype connection? by the way if you have time send me a message on my yahoo messenger so we can tak about this problem of yours...

SKYPE CONNECTION TO VTECH 7100 PHONE

go to www.vtechcanada.com click on cordless phones then click customer support and click on software down load and look for "For Windows Vista operating system:
USB7100 Setup version 2.35 – For use with Skype." save it and after that reboot your cpu and open your skype , log in and then open vtech cordless phone suit and check if all of the options there has a green check mark .. ok :-) and it will work and make sure you are using the 3.0 or 3.8 for your skype because 4.0 would not work. you can down load it in google skype version 3.8 or 3.0 ..
