Sandisk Sansa e130

Have the e130 model and I put in a 1GB SANDISK (!) card in the slot, I connected the unit to my computer and it recognized it as a new harddrive and I copied a lot of songs over but my card was still half full. The computer even showed me in the PROPERTIES that ca. half is used and the other half still empty. So yesterday I decided to add more MP# music to fill it up, it copied one or two and then I got the message that my card is full and if I wanna continue put in a new card. I tried several times and the same happened. I opened a brand new 2GB Lexar SD card and same thing happened: at ca. 500 MB it said the same that my card is full and to change to a new empty one if I wanna continue. I checked on your website, which says I can use up to 2 GB extra memory (SD card) if I want to. Since the built in memory also ca. 500 MB capacity I have a feeling that that the maximum amount of free space it allows me to use even though I put in a 1GB or a 2 GB card. Can you tell me if it's right or not or what should I do? In case it needs service who is looking after this player in Toronto,Canada? Thanks!

I am running into the same problem and I am thinking it has something to do with the filesystem type with which the SD card was formatted. There are 3 options, FAT, FAT32 and NTFS. Can someone who has working 2GB confirm the file system type they are using for 2G SD card. It can be found out by inserting the card in a reader and looking at its properties.

I have a 1GB SD card in my E130 Sansa. I had fill it up to 998MB. The only problem is that I have to leave 3MB in the flash unit. I guess it need it for constructing the Music Library.
The Flash (512MB) and the SD card (1GB) are both in FAT32.
I guess that it may be a problem of the SD card itself and not a problem of the Sansa.
1) Have you tried to read the SD card with a card reader (without the Sansa)?
2) Have tried formatting the SD card (not a quick format, but a real one) in FAT32 (be careful about that).

My computer doesn't recognise my sansa 260.

Sansa Not Recognized: Try connecting it to another computer the back straight to the motherboard ths should be USB 2.0 and see if it will recognize it as sansa or Drive/removable drive. if it does then download the sansa update software and install it. Make sure you disconnect the sansa and connect it when asked. This will update your sansas firmware and add the Usb Mode. Try to connect it to your computer at home it should recognize.... link for update software (http://mp3support.sandisk.com/sansa/Installer/1082/SansaUpdaterInstall.exe) download to a flash drive much easier. Make sure USB mode is MSC
Recovery Mode may also allow your computer to recognize the sansa
lock your sansa hold in the rec key on the left at the same time push the menu/power button this will take you to recovery mode then connect to the computer Start the update software when finished disconnect

How do i put songs on the mini sd card i bought for my Sandisk sansa connect mp3 player

I'm not sure but you should be able to find the settings for saving data in it's menu and change the location from internal/onboard to memory card.
I hope this helps, and Good Luck.

Sansa e130

ok, for everyone with e130 "keeps getting an I/O device error, only language screen, than something about 4MB memory..." problem, I just spend six hours of my life trying to solve it and fix my dad's e130 and I succeeded ;)

so, step by step, how EXACTLY I did it:

0) my system was windowsXP SP2

1) remove the battery
2) keep holding the menu button and plug in the usb, keep it for a few seconds more, untill the system will tell you it found a stmp3500 and want to install the hardware
3) allow it to reach windows update for that matter and install the drivers
4) now you have new device that is called "Player Recovery Device Class" you can check it in device manager (Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager)
5) and now is time for flushing new firmware...I managed to find two versions of firmware for e130:

1.0.101e - http://www.sandisk-karty.cz/sandisk-katalog/sansa-e100-series-mp3-players/dokumenty/
2.0.0.01e - http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1295

6) I tried both of them in many different combinations and finally one and one only miraculously worked for me and that was the one when

I HAD THE SD CARD IN THE MP3PLAYER, THE PLAYER WAS RECOGNIZED AS "Player Recovery Device Class" BY THE WINXP AND I STARTED EUROPIAN sansa-2.0.0.01e.exe !

PS: i don't think that there's a big difference between europian and american version of firmware I mention it just to be accurate about the situation. and big thanks to anonymous guy who turned me to right direction with stmp3500. hope that help to others ;]

Trouble using an SD Card

If Sansa e130 or 140 is version 1.x.x.10, SD card MUST be formatted as FAT (FAT16). Music files need to be on the root directory for better performance. I have a SD card (2 gig) formatted as FAT16 and the music plays good.

I was not able to upgrade my e130 to Version 2.0.0.1 Firmware.
Hope this helps

Searching for new music

Take the memory card out, clean the contacts and if you have an air duster clean the socket, reset the device by doing the following; take the battery out, hold the power-on button for 30 seconds (time it as it will seem to take forever). Put a new battery in and try it again. If this is no help then it would seem that either the memory card's file system or the internal memory's file system so plug the device in over USB and backup any data your PC can find. with anything that can be rescued, rescued format the memory using FAT32, do not use quick format. Alternatively you can buy rescue software from SanDisk www.lc-tech.com/software/rescueprodetail.html but it's not guaranteed to help.
