Putting new vacuum together position of the handle

Just bought a brand new Dyson DC14 and in the instructions to put the handle on the vacuum some of the pictures show the handle pointed to the rear of the vacuum there is no way the handle will attach unless the handle is in front of vacuum. What is the correct way to assemble the handle and what direction should it be facing when doing regular vacuuming?

Dyson wand, handle and hose are all unattached. How do I put them back together?

You can find a copy of the DC14 Manual here (
https://www.dyson.com/medialibrary/Files/Dyson/Support/downloads/US/Floorcare/manuals/dc14_opmanual_usa2007%20pdf.pdf ) Pages 4, 5, and 6 have plenty of schematics for putting the wand/handle assembly back together and getting everything to click. In a nutshell, the metal tube pretty much just slides back into the tube top, and then the slid-in tube clicks back into the top of the machine.

Good Luck!

Dyson dc14 brush bar is not turning at all. Everything else seems to be fine. I just replaced the brush bar but still no movement. What else could it be?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC14 Animal. If the brushbar doesn't rotate, please check you have the brush control set to 'Carpets', not 'Hard floors'. The brushbar will not rotate when the machine is standing upright, so please recline it into the vacuuming position before testing it.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, please give our Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US), so we can provide further assistance.
Best wishes,

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having a problem with your DC14 Animal. You should find the cleaner reclines freely into the vacuuming position when you place a foot on the cleaner head, and lower the handle. If it's not doing this, please get in touch with us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US), so we can provide the assistance you need.

Kind regards,

Have a DC25, I can not return the handle to the upright position. Nothing appears to be broken

Occasionally, customers have problems locking their Dyson vacuum in the upright position. This is a minor problem common with the Dyson DC07 and DC14 series and can easily be fixed by the customer. This page will show how to fix this problem. Although we show a Dyson DC14 Animal on this page, these instructions will work on any Dyson vacuum in the DC07 and DC14 series.

During shipping, moving parts on a Dyson vacuum can shift in position. One of these parts is a swinging arm in the base of the unit. This arm holds a removable elbow pipe in the vacuum's air passage. This arm can move out of the way so that you can clear out a blockage in the air passage. When this arm is out of position, the vacuum will not lock in the upright position. Fig. 1 Shows the base of a Dyson DC14 Animal locked upright. The red arrow points to the swinging arm. Fig. 2 shows the vacuum with the swing arm out of position. Since the swing arm is lower than it should be, it doesn't line up with the tab on the main body indicated by the red arrow.

Lean the handle of your Dyson all the way back and locate the black button on the right side of the vacuum indicated by the red arrow in Fig. 3.. Press the button down and hold it to unlock the swing arm.

While holding down the black button, pull the swinging arm (Shaded red in Fig. 4) all the way up. Fig. 5 shows the swinging arm in the correct position. Release the black button to lock the swing arm back in place.

The vacuum can now lock in the upright position as shown in Fig. 6. Note how the tab on the swinging arm overlaps the tab on the main body..

Putting the turbo head brushes back on to a dyson dc14 vaccum cle

Congratulations on owning a great vacuum cleaner, it's just like mine! Here's what I do: Grab the drive belt and pull while you wiggle the brush bar into it. You have to get a little bit physical with it. The ends of the brush bar will nestle into their keeper pockets nicely when you've got it right. Good luck!
