Fitted new battery, tryed resetting, when you plugin charger the green light comes on but still does not switch on.this problem was there before new battery fitted
There is no solution for this problem, it means you device is defective, I have tried ALL trouble shooting methods for the same problem! And if the store of origin for the product will not allow returns you are screwed because TomTom WILL NOT replace or service the product unless you pay them. Try charging the tom tom fully and then reset while it is charging. a tom tom will not reset unless the new battery is fully charged which may take some time if you only have a car charger.

What is your charging method? In car or house hold plug? Suggest that charger is not working (Green) if light on Tom Tom (at bottom near charger lead) is not lighting. Check your charger and see if you have an indicator light on it showing it is on. If yes, plug in Tom, then press and hold the "on" button for 15 seconds constinuously. Tom Tom should reboot.
If you have a tom tom from the GO models
they hace a reset button you can press with a pin were the mount fits.
When you plug in the charger the green light should come on to say it is chargeing.
Try the car adapter to charge the tom tom
Try doing a device update while connected to tomtom home, if that doesnt work backup your device onto your commputer and try reinstalling the software and maps ect onto your device.
hold the power on button down until it turns on, does this help, also being plugged into charger with green light coming on normally means that the unit is charged.

leave on charge for two hours, then with the SD card out hold down the reset button at the back of unit for ten seconds and then the 'on' switch for ten seconds.
I have the same tomtom and it has the same problem. Sorry to say it is the battery. You cant change it it has to go to Tom Tom. I just bought a new one. Hope this helps.
To only way you can fix it is taking apart the Tom Tom, checking if the flat ribbon cable and connector to the screen are well in place and eventually replace the display ($80 on Ebay). Unfortunately this will invalidate the guaranty, and you risk to damage your GPS if you are not a really experienced DIYer. Tom Tom offer one year full guaranty on all their receivers.
