Hello
I've got a Maytag Chest Freezer in my garage for about 3 years now. Today the freezer stopped working.
I have a GFI outlet in my garage, i pressed the reset button and the freezer worked for 2 seconds then tripped the GFI outlet and shut off again.
I used an extension cord and plugged it inside my house and the freezer is working fine now but something is definitely wrong, can you please tell me what is going on?
Thanks
First make sure than the condensing coil in the freezer is clean of dust and dirt(it is behind the grill vent in the bottom side of the freezer where the compresor is) If it is clough brush the dirt off after you unplugit. When is clean wait a few minutes ,5, and plugg it back at the GFI outlet and see if work If still tripped the outlet you may have to replace it.

Hi
Thanks for helping out with my problem.
The condensor coils are located within the walls of my freezer.
I looked under the freezer to see if there was any access to the coils but there is a metal plate covering the bottom of the freezer and i believe it's glued on because i saw some excess glue.
I cleaned the compressor area as best i could and nothing seems to look wrong down there.
Very strange that the freezer works when i plug it inside my house but when i plug it into any outlet in the garage the GFI outlet gets tripped.
I plugged my air compressor into an outlet in my garage and it works fine, i also plugged a small 4ft x 2ft commercial cooler in my garage outlet and that also works fine.
