The # 8 wire is a bonding wire for the hot tub or jacuzzi. It is to interconnect all the metal parts and equipment associated with the unit, pump, pipes, handrails, and also now there is a bushing that goes in the piping run to bond the water itself .
This wire will be incdentally connected to the electrical ground when it is bonded to the motor body.
get an electrician. you need to follow the code for the size of wire to use based on number of amps of the motor and how far away the pump is from the power outlet.
The heater will only fire if it has water in it. If you just got the house, make sure the gas/electric to the heater is on. Turn off the pump and turn it back on.. See if that works. good luck
im not a great expert in this field but try putting some dish washer tablets in water when running to see if they can clean out anything, about 3/4 tabs
yes it could, it might even be the motor, take the electric suply and unplug it see if you can turn the shaft on the motor if not it froze up,, sometimes the get wet and seize, the you have to get a new motor
does it have a heater in the circulation line, it should be under the cover and would be in line on the 2 inch pipe that feeds the jets, it should also be on a gfci, check to make sure it is plugged in if this is plugged in and not tripped you need to install a new heater
