Many models have a thermal reset to turn off the vacuum if it gets hot. Better vacuums have a mechanical reset switch that you push to reset. Most vacuums have an automatic thermal cutoff built into the motor, if it gets too hot it shuts off the power and will reset itself when it cools back down. If it shut off due to getting too hot it indicates a clog somewhere or the filters are clogged or the bag is full.
Chad, check your GFI to see if it needs reset, there may be a reset on the limit switch tripped also. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

according to your problem, the power was cut to the house; then power was restored and everything went back on that was on except the hot water heater. when you tried to reset the water heater breaker, it wouldn't reset. the hot water heater also won't reset. the problem is not w/the breaker, the problem is w/the hot water heater. you need to buy a new reset for the hot water heater which means a new control unit, since the reset is hooked to the contol unit. this is answered by an electrician w/35 yrs experience. the breaker controls the hot water heater. since the breaker won't reset, the problem lies in the control unit for the hot water unit.
The reset switch works like a thermostatic breaker and although unusual, it is possible the reset switch is bad or weak. You can replace the reset but some are hard to find. It may be easier to replace the upper thermostat with reset. I would also suggest that you check with the vender you purchased it from, and relay your story to them as they may be willing to help you with the parts. I hope this helps.
1-First check for power to water heater and remove acces panels on heater to check power at thermostats. Thermostats have a reset button on them that trip and can be pressed to reset.
2- If none of the above have changed any thing and you have power you may have elements gone bad.
If an element is gone at top you will get scalding hot water then go to cold.
If an element on the bottom is gone you will get luke warm water then will get cold.
Too many possibilities to solve without being there. If you have to reset it, that means that one of the many safety switches kicked in. Be careful that you don't make it a habit of resetting it without getting it checked, doing so will mostly likely cause a lot more problems.
Please get an expert in - this is either the breaker is faulty or you have an electric fault int he boiler. You can try and replace the breaker - but match the current rating. But this could be dangerous if you keep trying to reset.
