New Batteries but cannot work watch

Have not worn the watch in a long time and recently realized the batteries had gone dead. I took it to a watch repair shop to have a new battery put in. The LCD part of the phone lit up with some stuff but does not work properly and therefore I am unable to set the time or use the special functions.

I have a DKNY NY-1251 but i need the instruction to work it because it not working with new batteries. it was working but keeps on stopping

If it is an analog watch and the second hand moves a few time then stops and sort of twitches then the watch battery (even though new) may be bad. If not the the watch is dead and needs repair.

HI I wont to know battery size to my watch must de cartier serial # 901014991

Not a good idea. What starts as a 'simple battery change' could result in $500 in repairs. It is a Cartier! If it is a fake Cartier then by all means destroy it. Just realize that you don't really know what you are doing and you are about to perform brain surgery on a very expensive watch.

Why would a tissot t-touch need an overhaul to replace a dead battery

These babies are notorious for going down the tubes with a battery change. I bet if you get it back it won't work with a new battery. Twice I have replaced batteries and the watch didn't work when I finished. One of them was my own watch, I think $450 is about half the price of a new watch and that is sad. Cool watch just not very long life

Installed battery in lorus musical watch and nothing.

mcdevito75 here, A quartz mechanism can go bad just like a light bulb, depending on the watches age, wear etc. If your watch was stored for a period of time with a dead battery in it, that dead battery could hve leaked, ruining the mechanism. If your watch worked fine and the battery just went dead, make sure the battery contacts inside the watch are clean, use a Q-tip dipped in Alcohol and gently clean the battery contacts, press the button for the music part of your Lorus and make sure those contacts are clean and are meeting once the button is pressed, this you can see with the back cover off the watch. Makes sure the battery is installed correctly, and that the new battery number is the same as the old battery number. 364 and 371 are popular batteries for Lorus musical watches, even though your new battery is new, it can still be dead, who knows how long it was on the store shelf?? also, double check as some Lorus Musical watches have 2 batteries, 1 battery would be rather large ans sitting just under it"s hold down bracket see, as soon as you remove the back cover, if so, that battery must also be replaced. I have an old Mickey Lorus musical useing a 397 battery just 1 but my Lorus is burnt out. If all this fails, I would look for a small watch repair shop in your area and have them look at the watch for you.

I havent worn this watch for about a year the battery has 10 year warranty and was working fine.now it has stopped working.

A few watch companies...Bulova being one of them used to give a 10 year warranty but I dont know of any batteries that actually last 10 years! The average life of a 1.5 volt silver oxide battery is 2-3 years (sometimes a smidge longer) depending on the age and condition of the watch. A 3 volt lithium battery will get on average 3-4 years.

Im guessing that your battery is probably dead! :-)

Why is my ironman draining my battery?

Over time the circuitry in a watch can become worn and corroded.  This corrosion is usually barely noticeable.  More often, you won't be able to see much damage at all.  Nonetheless, the circuit is worn and is giving too much resistance to the battery.  This is cause the battery to pump too much voltage into the circuit just to run the watch.  This is draining your watch very quickly.  This is more common as the watch gets older.

For sure it is time to replace that old capacitor and replace it with the latest solution that uses a Lithium Ion battery. Find a good experienced repair person to do this for you. I do this daily and I am a Certified Master Horologist/watch repairman.. Ron at TimelyWatchRepair.com
