Black screen keeps popping up

The problem seemed to have started when I pushed the pip button. I started to flip through channels, then every 30 seconds or so the black screen pops up. I still have sound for the channels and the black screen leaves about a 3 inch border around the t.v. of whatever channel I'm on. The pip button has worked until now. The xds button on the controller takes the black screen of temporarily.

If a black box appears on the screen, and a small amount of the picture is visible around the border, it means that your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. Go back into the menu, navigate to the closed captions page and set the captions to OFF.

I have a 10 year old jvc model av27120 serial number 1251053, my 2 year old grandson touched the buttons on the front of the set and now a black rectangle keeps popping up in the middle of the picture. Can...

Sounds like 'picture in picture' was turned on. And if there is no 2nd video source, it shows up as a black rectangle. Find a button that is labelled PIP or similar and press it, maybe several times. It may move the PIP around the screen before turning it off.

My flip mino HD has been charging for 3 hours and will not turn on. I've tried resetting the battery and it still won't turn on

Is it plugged in directly or with a USB extension cable? Some cheaper cables are not sufficient to charge it.

Black area on screen,

Hi omsoc,

This could possibly be an issue with closed captioning. While some closed captioning is a marquee-type text near an edge of the display, your television may have an option turned on to display a different channel of captioning that would likely display a large black box on your screen if there is no data to display. This would explain why this would take place suddenly at the same time each night, as well as why pressing the display button would cause it to disappear. I suggest you look into your menu to try turning this option off, then watch the channel you normally watch at this time. If this does not resolve the situation, I recommend you contact your manufacturer’s product support line.

Thank you,

Picture in picture

i am not familiar with this model, but on most sets you will have a button on the remote to activate pip, when active you should be able to adjust channels on the small display with the remote and cycle through inputs. depending on the tv you will either have 2 inputs for your cable/sat/tv feed, or will have 1 with a dual tuner.
check the connections in the back for a second cable input, or hook up a dvd/vcr/game console/etc to test the pip.
start dvd or tape playing, press pip button to display the mini-screen, then use the tv/vcr or input button to cycle through the modes and see if one pops up. most tvs that have pip will also have a swap button on the remote, it may be labeled with text, or it may just look like one screen overlaying another, press that one to swap between displays.

hope this helps,
