My camera is 2 years old. I recently changed the xD picture card and the screen showed "No Card" although the card was correctly locked into the card slot. Any ideas how to fix this? Is it a known problem?
Card reader faulty and should be replaced ( sometimes the contacts faulty inside the reader and can be repaired without having to replace the whole reader unit) camera should go in .

XD cards are now obsolete memory cards. The cards were developed by Olympus and Fujifilm and released during the summer of 2002. There is now an adapter that allows an SD card to be used in place of the XD card You need to remember that the capacity should not exceed 2 GB or the camera will not be able to accept it. As far as I know cameras accepting XD cards were last produced in 2007, I don't know what specific models however the camera specifications would show what type card it uses.
It sounds like the card is damaged, it should take a lot more photos than that.
The C-50 takes an XD memory card. These are different sizes. For example a 256mb size will take hundreds of photographs.
The C-50 is quite old and there are now different types of XD cards. It might be best to get a 128mb XD card.
The Olympus website says: --- Please contact Olympus authorized distributor or service center in your region for the information about using xD-Picture Card 512MB, 1GB or 2GB --- I hope this helps.
Seems your original xD card is busted and you need a new one. Assume the camera (4 years old?) has not been used for a while and you do not have another xD card. Try using a different one if you have or buy a newer xD flash card for your Finepix.
A card access error may indicate that an xD-Picture Card memory card is in a write-protected condition. xD-Picture Card memory cards have a special protection feature to ensure that your pictures are kept safe.
NOTE:
During this condition, you can still use the printer for printing and saving photos from the xD-Picture Card to a secure location, such as the computer hard drive.
To resolve this error, try the following:
Reinsert the xD-Picture Card memory card into your camera and turn on the camera. In most cases, the camera automatically makes the necessary changes.
Reformat the xD-Picture Card memory card. See the documentation that came with your camera for instructions on reformatting the memory card. Note that this process erases the pictures currently saved to your memory card. To save these pictures, transfer them to the computer before reformatting the memory card. Once you reformat the memory card, transfer those photos back to the memory card using the computer.
