Turn off the tablet for a little bit and then turn it on and should be back to normal.

There is no real way of removing the pattern lock unless you do a full factory reset by going into recovery mode. If it is rooted you can restore a previous back up. But the factory reset will delete everything from the phone.

To unlock your tablet, I assume it's android OS, to unlock it, you need to shutdown the tablet first after that turn it on and press volume down button together, after that choose wipe.

My son e matic tab doesn't stay connected online. Also he locked himself out with a pattern lock I can't recall how I broke it last time.

You will have to do a factory reset on the tablet to reset the password.

For the online issues, I would first check for a firmware update for the router and the tablet.
